KidKraft 60-Piece Wooden Cutout Shapes Block Building Architectural Set - Natural, Gift for Ages 18 mo+

I had to wait for the delivery of this past the rest of my toy order. These blocks were pictured with a child and they looked huge in the pic. Not the size I expected and much smaller. Also they come with 58 pieces and are advertised with 60 pieces. The box it comes in is thin and there is no storage bag. They were also over $100 and inside the box was a return slip missed from another order from someone else and it said they paid 44.99. Other than that they look okay through the packaging but I never opened them. They are being returned.

I had several sets of blocks on amazon that I was considering for purchase and ended up picking this one. But it’s so darn hard to pick when there are limited photos and limited reviews. So I thought I would leave my 2 cents. - pros - these blocks are super nice, sturdy and heavy. If your kid hucked one it would do a bit of damage. I tell you this so if you are looking for those weird overly light wood blocks that are almost like foam... look elsewhere. These are the real deal, sturdy and heavy. They are sanded and large enough for kids to actually build something useful in their play. See my photo with my hand to get a sense of size. They are also big enough that I’m not worried about my one year old choking. Cons- so far there are none except wishing the set was larger. After purchasing one set I realize that for some of the towers and “cities” my kids wanted to create, we would need another set. ( you can see from my second picture all the blocks that are included) overall great set that me and my kids are super happy with.

As per what the recent reviewers have indicated (and I hadn't realised because amazon always shows default top reviews instead of most recent ones...) there are only 58 pieces because.... what was supposed 4 quarters have now become 2 semicircles. This was rather disappointing for me as I took time and effort comparing between M&D and amazon unit blocks before deciding on this and was so stoked they were compatible with Grimm's Giant blocks just to find out about this. But of course I wouldn't pay another $50 just to get M&D for the quarters. Just saying again Amazon, please get your sellers to reflect the latest version of the product and also correct pictures so customers aren't misguided.

We purchased a set of these blocks to add to the toy collection in our media room for those times when our two small grandsons visit. My wife taught kindergarten for many years so we were looking for blocks of a similar quality to the ones that had been used for decades in her classroom. This set of block did not disappoint! They are thick with rounded edges and a smooth finish ... comparable to the ones in the classroom. Included is a good selection of shapes and sizes and we will probably purchase a second set so we can construct even higher structures for the guys to demolish! Highly recommended.

I admit I spent a lot of time going back and forth before ordering these blocks. Some people said that the blocks that were supposed to be the same size were slightly off. Some said they smelled of chemicals. Someone said they were light weight. I have found none of this to be true. These blocks are heavy, sturdy, and precision cut. They smell like wood. I wonder if those leaving bad reviews somehow got a defective batch. Excellent purchase. My 18 month old loves them. We play with them with him and are able to build tall structures with no problem (well, unless the toddler knocks it down!) I think these will last a long, long time. I may even give them to my grandchildren one day!
