Works as intended - pretty nice
Quite impressed with all the available functions. Right out of the box, hooked up to my fully charged lead acid battery and it properly identified it as such. Then hooked up to my 50W solar panel and it was at float charge because my battery was above the 13.2v which would trigger charging. So I ran a load until the voltage dropped below 13.2v and it instantly started charging up to the factory default of 14.4v float. Works like a charm, and all set points are adjustable. USB port delivers 5v, and the load port delivers direct battery voltage...and you can set disconnect parameters to stop your load from drawing down the battery.Loaded with features for a cheap price. Just be sure to follow the instructions or you'll toast it right away: Hook up the battery first, then the solar panel. When disconnecting unhook the panel first, then the battery.Hope to get years of use out of this.UPDATE: Suggest if you plan to run this up to the max amp rating, take off the back panel (made of aluminum to act as a heat sink) and note that there are 3 transistor-like things which are spanned by a sticky-back tape that's supposed to make contact with the cover and draw off any heat. Suggest to apply a thick bead of silicone heat transfer compound or even a thick strip of aluminum foil to bridge the gap to the cover, to assure any heat is pulled away.

Excellent
What a buy. Inexpensive and works exactly as advertised. The Amazon product description and illustrations are a mess...avoid. Know what you're doing before you wire it up and you'll be fine (watch a few YouTube videos to get up to speed if you need to)...and of course stay within the controller's specs. I'm using a 25 watt Eco-Worthy solar panel along with two 12v 18Ah SLA batteries connected in parallel to power a Wyze security camera 24x7 on a remote part of my property. Very pleased. Highly recommended.

Not good for solar panels more than few volts over battery
This product appears to go out consistently with any significant amount of power. I have a solar panel that runs 32 volts @ 5 amps. I used this with a 24 volt battery. This first one failed by charging for a few minutes and then stopping once warm. I thought that this could have been caused by a battery disconnect momentarily while having an active panel. The product warns of this. I replaced it and realized that it was happening again after a month. Using this controller with a 24v panel and a 12 volt battery is even worse. If the charge rate is around 50 watts or less, it's not a problem. I did not know what my wattage was on this because the meter did not work on either one. I also, would like to add that my battery never reached a full charge with this controller. I just upgraded to a 60am mppt charge controller and I am amazed how everything works. My batteries were fully charged and sustained use for hours without sun. Spend the extra $10 and get the 60amp.
