The tool is 100% necessary for a 1.4 GM. this tool was perfect since my local GM dealer did not have it!! I am going to offer it to them when I am done with it, LOL. Really, though, it worked just like the tools from the requirements in Alldata and the timing will definitely be off if this is not used.

I am suprised that this works perfectly. It it completely possible to align the timing off a tooth using this kit when replacing the chain, but it was user error. The chain needs to be stretched as tight as possible against the fixed guides.
