This is a short (12") mechanical finger. IT IS NOT MAGNETIC, though the name implies magnetism. It did the task I needed it to do, fairly well. However, the mechanism is very stiff and sticky. The fingers are spring steel about a 1/10 of an inch wide and heavy duty enough to not flex outward at all. In some cases this may be what you need but I more or less expected spring steel wires. The mechanism will not work well under tight bends and sufficient force to open the fingers for full open release requires effort. This almost caused a failure for my use, which was to blindly replace a failed rivet deep in a leather knife sheath. Using tape on the finger to mark the depth, I was able to insert the finger to the correct position and feel the rivet shaft pop into the hole.

As another reviewer stated, this item is best used for getting olives out of a jar and not much else. The fingers are so weak and flimsy that it is a struggle to even remove a pickle from a jar with it. Although not what it was made for, I got it for removing nuts & bolts from a can in my workshop as it is about the perfect length for this. The fingers are so flimsy I couldn't even pick up a threaded nut with it.
