Q: How is this worth the price tag when a single trackball would do the same thing for much less, and you just toggle between the three logical controls?

There is a World of Difference between using the Tangent Ripple Vs. a single tracker ball when completing White Balance, Lift-Gamma-Gain and Color grading. One Tracker ball will not suffice or compare when actually doing the work.

Q: Does this work well with final cut X

Most FCPX users of this board use the Color Finale plugin (from ColorGradingCentral.com) to drive it. Color Finale provides a more industry-standard color-grading interface (three color wheels and sliders) for FCPX. Q: Does it work with adobe premiere on the mac? Specifically the lumetri color correction effect?

It does work in Lumetri in Premiere Pro. I can control up to six parameters with a sweep of the palm or fingers (the three Track Balls and the three Scroll Wheels).
