Can still be improved. But better than others.
Fantastic customer service. Loud and fairly strong. As mentioned in other reviews it's downfall is the battery cover screw and the fact that the super loud screach is confusing to pedestrian traffic and doesn't make them move over. Most people just freeze in the middle of the trail and look up to see what kind of bird is on crack.

Solid construction and really loud.
Like probably most urban riders, I have had too many close calls with oblivious people. The little bell I used to use went ignored by most. I have been knocked right off my bike. But this horn is so loud people don't ignore it--maybe they think it is a truck coming up behind them. Very well-made. It mounts securely and the little button allows use without moving my hand off the bar. Great product I wish I had years ago.

VERY LOUD! But SIMPLE IS BETTER.
This came yesterday and I just put it on my bike. It is VERY LOUD. At $40, I guess you get what you pay for.The mounting hardware is good and i was able to put the mount over my handlebar tape! Here are my criticisms:There is no need for 2 sounds. Better to have made the horn sound even louder. In my view, no need for the 140 db tweet.Better to have put the button on the horn itself rather than have it remote with a wire.SIMPLE IS BETTER.That said, if it holds up, i will be very happy with it.

Best and loudest horn for cyclists
Every cyclist needs this horn!! Finally a horn that makes a horn sound that drivers in cars can actually hear. I’ve tried other horns and this is by far the loudest and most realistic. It sounds like the horn on a moped so this makes drivers understand there is an actual motorist nearby. I’m able to have both my gps and horn on the frame. This horn can save your life.

This horn is a LITERAL life-saver
I shopped around for WEEKS and I'm happy I bought this one.Cycling is my main source of commuting, whether for work, fun, or exercise. I live in midtown Manhattan and cycling here is a sport only for the brave or the idiotic. Bike horns (not bells) have saved my life multiple times. When my old horn fell apart (and so did its replacement...), I searched for a new one that met all my requirements. The only thing that worried me about this horn was the fact that it used standard alkaline batteries instead of being USB-rechargeable. I took a risk because it's very hard to find a product that is as loud as this one claims to be, without a bunch of extra nonsense. (I don't want a motion detector alarm! I don't want a remote control! I don't need an LED screen!) I've been using this for about a month and a half now, and have not had to replace the batteries. And trust me, I use this a LOT.I wish there were different noise settings. My old one had five different sounds you could cycle through (no pun intended). But this horn still gives you the option of a quick push (a little chirp) or a hold (piercing siren). The handlebar "remote" is very convenient and easy in an emergency traffic situation. The horn (which sounds more like a siren) is VERY loud. I don't know how to measure or estimate decibel levels, but I know this is loud as hell. This has truly saved me from some potentially horrendous accidents with drivers who do not pay attention to cyclists. I haven't really tested the waterproofness but the light exposure to rain has been fine.THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT

Definitely loud enough to get auto drivers attention!!!
Great product and easy installation (wish they included the hex wrench needed) the horn is definitely a loud attention getter! It was a bit more than I intended to spend initially, but after a recent close call.....this could be the $43.00 that saves your life!

I bought two, both stopped working in a few months
Coming back to edit my review after the SECOND Hornit I bought failed after only a few months. When the first one failed -- basically, the alarm sound went from a "woo-woo-woo" to a buzzer sound, like the clock at a basketball game, which is not nearly as attention-getting — I gave them the benefit of the doubt and bought a second one. It, too, has lost the alarm sound after only THREE months. I replaced the batteries each time, so that wasn't the issue. For $40 it should last longer than 6 months! It’s a bummer because I haven’t found a comparably loud horn anywhere else.

Inadequate For Use in Car Traffic
The sound is loud, but nothing like a car horn. This is important for use around cars, because nothing other than a car horn will cause the immediate reaction that might be required to stop a collision. The loud mode is like a bird chirping, and the pedestrian mode is only adequate for people without headphones.I wouldn't recommend unless it's for bike paths and the like, but at that point, a standard bike bell is friendlier, more effective, and uses no batteries.
