Better than cat litter. So glad I bought the Cat Genie.

Anyone who has a cat(s) should have a Cat Genie. MY friends are sick of hearing me report to them about when my cats used the Genie. I’m so thrilled with it!!! They all roll their eyes! That’s how much I talk about it!! You will not be sorry if you get one! I put mine in my laundry room and the drain hose goes into my sump pump in my basement where my washing machine water goes. It’s just perfect!!!! ALSO if you have ANY questions, the peeps at the 800 number are EXCELLENT!!! They will talk you through step by step of what to do! And they can tell what is the matter with your unit by putting in the serial number!! CAT GENIE AI!!!! DO IT!!!!! You will bot be sorry!!!

OK, so the tempermental Cat Genie is a not for everyone. But for the rest of us, it's godsend. What these granules do for me is maintain a very sanitary litter box for a valuable 15 year old service animal on chemotherapy and help his person who has a compromised immune system and can't handle litter at all. I'm so grateful that I no longer have to deal with scooping and bagging and hauling, and fight the endless battle of odor and sanitizing. The granules track as bad as any other litter with the difference being they don't have ANY "dust" at all. You do feel it if you step on the individual granules, but if you put a large litter mat or a big plush rug in front of the litter box, the granules will be caught in them and you can pick up the edges of the rug, shake loose the granules and then dump them back into the box, using the rug to funnel them. There is no solution to cat litter boxes unless you have a full time maid, but this is one option that I think is the best solution for indoor litter boxes for many of us. If you have the need for bacterial reduction and minimizing dust, this is as good as it gets.

This product works great but you do have to have the "CatGenie" litter box to use them as directed. However, if you can not afford the cat genie I am sure you could improvise some type of draining cat pan using these granules and do a rotational wash and dry of them. While they are drying you can put new granules down or previously washed and dried granules. The benefit is they are washable and become scent free to humans. if you do use the companies liquid washing packets with their machine and run out of the disinfectant wash you can turn off the "CatGenie" wash out the whole unit by hand. Keep it unplugged and let dry completely wash the granules in a separate container with a very mild and all natural dish washing soap (use very little to prevent over sudsing and extensive rinsing). Remember this is done by hand and not using any other cleaning product directly in the "CatGenie" itself to keep warranty intact. Rinse granules until all soap rinses clear, drain and dry and then you are ready to replace them back into the "CatGenie" for use until your supply of disinfectant comes in or place back in you master minded self draining cat pan you design yourself. It beats nasty clay litters or any other type of litter because they are washable and reusable for quite sometime before breaking down. Next best step next to teaching your pets to all use the toilet and flushing themselves.

You can't really thoroughly consider the CatGenie granules in isolation from the CatGenie or vice versa, but I'll give it a shot vs. clay-based standard litter in a regular litter box. These granules are about millet size, plastic, and they don't clump and they don't break, grind or decompose into fine clay. As such, they're easier to clean up after getting kicked out. Also, I don't feel quite as yucky to find them around the house as I did for the clay, since I know they've been washed several times today and they haven't absorbed anything. I have two cats, and neither of them had a problem adjusting to the change in texture from standard litter. As a plus, it doesn't stick between pads as much either. You definitely want a box on hand at all times for the CatGenie, since too few in the pan will potentially put off the cat and also possibly result in a basin-filling error on the cat genie -- they displace a certain amount of the wash water, and the Genie will think it's taking too long to fill if they aren't there taking up room. A certain amount will be consumed during each wash -- some will stick to "solids" and a few others will cling to the scooper despite the shaking action it uses. A good product to consider for subscription shipment to prevent an emergency next-day-air situation.

The granules are the exact bio-degradable granules that Petnovations sells. They are the only litter that can be used in the Cat Genie. They are washable, sanitizable, and CLEAN. Do NOT try to use these as a regular litter because they are meant to be washed, sanitized, and dried by the Cat Genie. They are fantastic and there is NEVER a smell of cat litter in my home. They do not absorb the way regular litter does, but they are there to satisfy the cat's need to dig and cover their deposits until the sensor in the Genie turns on the wash and dry cycle. Now with Amazon selling these granules, I'll always be able to have an extra box on hand. One box lasts for about 3 weeks for me with 2 cats using the Genie. Couldn't do without them.

Awesome product. But to have a use for it you will need the catgenie.

The granules do what they are meant to. I tried a bunch of different alternatives in the catgenie (even though you're not supposed to) like bird seed, fine gravel, other cheaper granule beads but my cats didn't like it and the bowl didn't work 100% either. They did the job but if the cat doesn't like it then you have an expensive useless litter box. The granules are more expensive than the other things but if it works and my cats use the litter box then its worth it. It's still cheaper than buying regular litter every month and cleaning it all the time too.
