Works great on my new MacBook Air!! No software needed. Easier install: plug in, put the CAC card in, open the site you need to get to, and boom!! certifications automatically link. Click trust site you use. I was amazed how easy it was with the New Mac. Cord is short not a problem for me.

I purchased two of these at one time because I've learned most of these card readers only last about 6 months and they go out without warning. Since I need them to do my job, I like to have one on backup. The first one lasted about 3 days. On the third day, it wouldn't light-up for no apparent reason and was dead! I immediately got the second one out. It was fine at first. After about 3 hours, I unplugged it from one side of my computer to move it to the other side. When unplugging it, the metal part pulled away from the plastic part and...it was dead! It should not have been this "flimsy" and easy to brake. My next issue is I had trouble getting a refund because it had been more than 30 days since I purchased them. I didn't use them right away because I purchased them for "backup." They finally agreed to give me a credit for 80%, so I was only out for 20%. When I returned them, I wrote on them with Sharpie that they are defective, so hopefully they are not resold. I stupidly bought a third one because I didn’t realize it was the same one I had had trouble with before, and this time it did not work the first time I tried to use it. DO NOT BUY THIS!
