A Highly-Recommended Read to Empower LD students in the Classroom
This is an excellent and quick read for educators who want to understand some easy and low-cost opportunities to empower learners, especially those with learning differences like dyslexia or executive functions challenges, with technology. The authors provide some background on the basis and research for incorporating technology into the learning process, the importance of assistive technologies (AT), and how the technologies and approaches they identify in the book fit into the overall landscape of instructional technology in the classroom. Many of the suggestions they offer are free or low-cost and are straightforward to implement, from specific software and settings to how to maximize the benefit of those technologies through the right pedagological approaches. Not only are a broad range of learning goals, from reading, writing, and spelling to math and organization covered, but the content is easily digestible and technophobes to the tech-enabled will be able to walk away with actionable and meaningful strategies to implement in the classroom. This would also be an excellent text for parents to gain an understanding of the AT landscape and to be better advocates for their children who might benefit from gaining better access to learning materials in the classroom. A quick and highly-recommended read; as a veteran in schools that use AT to empower learners, I walked away with some new, useful knowledge related to the field.

For Some, Technology is the Answer
What Krakower and Plante are able to do so well in this book is provide examples that showcase their tremendous experience in utilizing technology to meet the needs of a wide variety of learners. This book is an excellent short read that provides insight into how two educators have discovered that sometimes, "technology is the answer." What is fascinating is that we often push ourselves to simply see technology as the "vehicle," not wanting it to ever become the "destination," for fear that it might blur our educational vision. And yet, what Plante and Krakower are able to do is showcase how some students need technology to be the destination, if for no other reason than to give them opportunities that other learners take for granted. Along with the strong voices of the authors, I was also pleased to see other educators profiled. In my opinion, books are always strongest when the primary author(s) is/are willing to share the stage with others in the field.

Good ideas and suggestions
Good ideas and suggestions, but a VERY short book. Either I didn't pay attention or it was more hidden that this was a brief book (around 50 pages). Probably my error. Good ideas though and helpful.
