This is the best jerky I've had in a while. The texture was excellent, not to tough, not too soft. The pepper was perfect. Not overdone to hide the taste of the beef. And the price beat most other prices. I just stopped in to review on my wya to buy some more.

My husband and I — especially my husband — are fans of beef jerky, but we don't like the soft jerky. I mean, what is the point of having beef jerky if it's soft and chewy? Sadly, many popular name brands in the grocery store are just that way, so it's rather difficult finding a good tough beef jerky. Second in importance is the flavor. Does it taste like meat? Or does it taste like the flavoring/marinade? This pack of jerky was one of several brands that I had grabbed to make a birthday goodie bag for my husband. Of course, as we opened bag after bag of jerky, they would be soft or the typical jerky style that others have, even though they would have a good flavor. However, when we opened this bag of Cattleman's Beef Jerky we were surprised? It's JERKY! Like, jerky jerky. It's not so tough that it is un-chewable (unless you are a toddler wanting some of Daddy's special snacks), but it tough enough to have to jerk pieces off and have something to actually chew. Not only that, but this pack had such a great beef flavor and peppered flavor. We plan to try the other flavors and will recommend this brand of beef jerky to others looking for a good beef jerky that isn't soft like bread.

Texture: varies between tough and tender but very moist! Taste: pepper is not overwhelming, better than Jack Links Size: very few tiny pieces Cons: only complaint I have is there were some pieces with untrimmed fat and it was honestly a bit gross when I took a bite. Not just a tiny bit of fat but like half of a big piece was entirely fat. It's not the tasty kind of fat either. Worth the money?: overall it was a good jerky and though the flavor profile wasn't anything mind blowing, I'd probably buy from them over jack's link cus jack's links jerky has wayy too many complaints about mold and crumbs on amazon.

I pretty much tried every jerky variation I could find on Amazon. This brand in peppered steakhouse is in my opinion the best flavored and texture of all. It’s also 10oz which is about 2-4 times as much as most of the other brands. 5 stars across the board from me. Amazon is combining reviews for all flavors into one so I’ve separated review into 3 sections. Review for the original style: ordered by accident while trying to order peppered. This one (original flavor) on first bite I felt was a little saltier than I like but after a few pieces seems fine. Review for Smoked Frontier Style: I thought I’d died and went to heaven when I first tried this one, it’s dryer than first two and chewier as well. More like my homemade. I can’t decide which one I like the best out of my above two versions reviewed so I’ve taken to combining the peppered steakhouse with the frontier style in a ziplok baggie to get the best of both worlds. Now, finally, my life is complete.

I've previously bought Cattleman's Cut beef jerky, original version, so now I decided to buy the peppered flavor. The bags are large-10 oz-with a lot of pieces. Some are very big and tough, and as a person who cannot chew tough things, I have to soak the jerky in warm water for about an hour to soften it so I can consume it. This does not affect the taste of the jerky, which is as good as the original version is. On the subject of the taste, the pepper flavor is VERY strong, with a significant kick on the front and back end. It took several minutes for the pepper flavor to subside in my mouth. Consumers who don't like this or may have issues with it may wish to eschew the pepper version and buy the regular version instead.

I like spicy jerky. This was tasty enough, but I got a bit of an upset stomach.

Over the past year or so I've purchased some fancy boutique jerky. Some have been good, some not so good, some terrible All were expensive, much more so than Cattleman's. This jerky is consistent quality and a great price. It's softer with just enough chew to it. Great to have in the car during a road trip!

Bought this on a whim. We needed snacks for a 15 hour road trip and saw these yummy things . So glad we bought them ! Very flavorful . Not too tough to eat (even the thicker pieces are easy to break apart and eat). No after taste. Just very very good jerky . Better than the rest
