Like everyone I needed a new bag for my HF dust collector. I did a search looked at the reviews and thought “I’ll save a couple bucks and buy the cheap ones”. They worked until they didn’t. I went through 2 in a week my filter was full of dust and well they couldn’t take the pressure. So I ordered these “Made in America” and as soon as they showed up there was a definite feel, look and weight difference. The fit to the machine was better. They seem on first impression to be better made and more heavy duty than the others I bought. The picture is a comparison between these (on top) and the cheaper ones (on bottom) and calipers don’t lie.

Although the bag was a little bit frustrating to install, it sealed much better than the looped type that allows the band clamp to be threaded through the built in loops. I suggest that you use bungie cords to secure the bag to the drum and then apply the band clamp. No dust escapes through the top of the bag not like the looped type. I would highly recommend these bags.

These bags were replacing old fabric bags. Something I did not realize is that the "collector" bags allowed as much air flow as the upper "filter" bag. This is important because, since the air cannot flow through the plastic bags, it must all exit via the upper bag, or in my case now, the filter I installed. This causes quite a bit of pressure on the lower collector bag, making it billow out. I paid the extra price for these bags based on some reviews of the cheaper bags and my opinion that cheapest is usually not the better choice for any product. I now fully understand some of the negative reviews of some of the cheaper bags. I don't want a bag that may give out when partially full of sawdust. These bags won't. I highly recommend paying a few dollars more for the better bag if for no other reason than peace of mind. My only very minor complaint would be how they are packaged: you have to unfold the stack of them to get one out. It is not a very difficult or time-consuming thing to do, would just prefer they were packaged interlaced like garbage bags. Again, not a real big problem, especially since I will only be replacing it at multiple-month intervals. That said, mounting the bags can be quite easy or quite difficult, depending on how you do it. I found that the plastic slips off the rim quite easily and became exasperating. The solution was simple, using strips of electrical tape (or any other tape), tacking the bag in place as I worked around the rim made the whole process quite easy, taking less than 2 minutes. I hope this hint might save you some frustration. I did not rate durability because I've only just installed one, but I expect them to hold up well. I will also add that though my collector label says it uses 33" bags, these 43" bags are not too long. In fact, had I ordered 33", I don't think they would have ended up resting on the floor, but the bottom would have been above the base plate. In summary, these are well made, fit the bill and give me the peace of mind that they will not fail, blowing sawdust all over the shop (and they are made in the USA).
