Fossil Maya Hobo Handbag

As others mention, this bag was a little stiff when it arrived. However, after removing the packaging, filling it up with my items and using it for just a few days the leather softened nicely. The short strap is long enough to hold this well as a shoulder strap. The long strap is unique, but I love it. It is also a little stiff but it is softening with use. It's an olive green color. It give the bag a slightly sporty look that works well.

When I first got the purse I loved the way it looked and with the wide strap it was comfortable to wear. The major problem with this purse is the strap hardware. For whatever reason the loop that the strap clips on to screws on. This piece of hardware holds the smaller strap and the long one. It constantly falls off like is shown in the picture. That means I’ll be out shopping or running errands and suddenly it just comes undone and falls to the ground. So I’m left picking up the contents off the floor of wherever I am and trying to screw in this impossible loop so I’m not having to carry it like a bag with no handles. It’s so frustrating and embarrassing! I’ve had cheaper purses last years and this nice leather purse with janky hardware started doing this within a week. Of course I am returning it. I wrote this review because I know others would be equally upset to spend their hard earned money on a bag that can’t be worn without malfunctioning.

Beautiful bag. It was a little bit bigger than I thought it was going to be, but I think the size is actually perfect. The leather is soft but still has quite a bit of structure to it. I love the side pocket on the outside of the bag, it's really deep and perfect for my kindle or a small notebook. The hardware is beautiful and sturdy and I like how wide the shoulder strap is, it doesn't feel like it's going to dig into my shoulder painfully if I load the bag up. I think I'm going to start saving for a second one in brown.

I love this bag - it’s the perfect size to fit my iPad (which I need to carry with me for work), a small pouch for diapers and wipes, toddler snacks and my wallet/phone - without looking bulky! And it’s cute! I like the weight of the leather - it’s sturdy and feels durable, but not stiff. The crossbody strap is great for me to be hands free as I wrangle toddlers. I was excited for the zippered outer pocket, thinking I’d store my phone, chapstick and wallet there for easy accessibility, but the zipper is so rough, my hand gets scratched up anytime I try to get something out. Not a huge deal for me, as everything fits in the main pocket and interior pockets just fine.HOWEVER, after a few weeks, the strap started coming off, as others have mentioned in reviews. I tried screwing it back in, but it continued to break with greater frequency. I contacted customer service about a warranty repair or replacement two weeks ago and have yet to hear back, except for their auto-generated response that they’d received my email.I love this bag, just wish I could use it again!!

Love the bag and the softness of the leather. I DO NOT LOVE the fact that the shoulder strap detaches from the hardware and the bag falls to the ground. I have only had this bag for five weeks and have used it FOUR times because breaks every time. Come on, Frye...this should never happen with a handbag of this quality. This was too expensive to just ignore the problem. Now what???

Looks and feels great! Perfect size for my everyday use. I wish the guitar strap was black rather than army green. But overall, very nice handbag.

Leather seems to be good quality and it’s my style but the purse handle falls off all the time. The hardware on the sides that attaches the straps comes loose and I’ll be walking with it on my shoulder or as a crossbody and it’ll just fall to the ground. Just now happened again in a gas station bathroom. I am totally fed up with this purse.

I am really pleased with the small maya hobo bag. I debated between the small and big maya hobo bag, I decided to go with the small one. I think the big version would have been too big for my 5’5 frame. For a size reference this bag just barely fits my 13 inch laptop. It is a larger bag. It has enough room for my wallet, a bottle of water, snacks, and a pouch full of other necessities. I love the zippered top and interior pockets. The outside zippered pocket is slim. It is the perfect size for a phone and chapstick. The leather seems durable and the zippers do need to be broken in. I had to replace the crossbody strap with a leather one because the nylon crossbody strap did not stay up on my shoulder. The clasps on the nylon strap did not stay hooked to the bag and would constantly fall off. That is the only con of this bag for me. I do like the versatility of two straps on this bag and I love how much the bag can hold.
