The James Bond Collection [Blu-ray]

This collection is THE one to have if you're a 007 fan. I've recently begun to enjoy action-type films and thought these would be a good collection to add to my DVD library. What makes them even more interesting are the special features that explain the intricate and painstaking restoration process that took place to give these classics the clarity, color, and crisp resolution they now have. Highly recommend.

Great in blu ray. Sound very high and voices low on the earlier bond movies. Still great.

If you are a real "007" fan from Connery to Craig, this is the collection to own. Do not buy any other Bond set. This is the only one you want . At $3.33 per pristine BluRay movie, you can't go wrong. These transfers to true 1080p BluRay are the best I have seen in a long time. The first 20 bond movies have been digitally remastered in stunning Hi-Def from their original 8K scanned 35mm film negatives, and 6 channel 35mm magnetic audio tracks for the cleanest picture and sound. (The last 4 Bond films were shot on 35mm but stored on modern digital equipment and did not need to be remastered.) The video on every film is pristine clear and sharp. Bright accurate color and brightness to contrast ratio. Even the early Bond movies from Dr. No in 1962 through the 80's to License To Kill in 1989, are truly stunning in HD. They all look like they were originally shot on today's digital technology. No grain, no dirt, no haze, no fade, no color bleed, no jitter... NO KIDDING!!...... just super clean sharp pictures from beginning to end. The audio is clean and noise free on all movies. Very impressive to the audiophile with a nice home theater system. They have brought back the original stereo soundtracks, cleaned them up and remixed them in DTS 5.1 Master Audio Stereo on every Bond movie starting from "Dr. No". If you have a home theater with surround channels, you will be amazed and impressed at how well they are used. They come alive with great music and effects. I am very picky about the Audio and Video quality of movies. So when I tell you that these remastered BluRay transfers are as pristine as you could ever expect, I promise you are getting your money's worth with this box set. They even packaged the discs in the cases the right way. Each movie disc has its own separate flip tray to minimize accidental damage when moving the discs in and out of the cases. No stacking discs on top of or in front of other disc. No cardboard or paper sleeves. There are 3 BluRay type blue cases in the main box. The first case has the first 10 Bond films. The second case has the next 10 Bond films. The third case is not as thick as it only has the last 4 of the Bond films. The 3 cases fit into a cardboard sleeve which fits into the additional main cardboard sleeve. My only but small disappointment was that they did not include the original James Bond spoof Casino Royal with David Niven, or 1983's Never Say Never Again with Sean Connery reprising his Bond roll for one last time. Those two films were done through other studios and not included as part of the official Bond collection. But these two films are still available separately. I bought them to make the collection complete. There is no digital copy or special booklets, and there are very little pictures or details on the outside package. But as I said, at $3.33 per pristine BluRay movie, I can live without the little extras on the box. This box set is the best bargain you will find for the die-hard 007 fan. Cannot beat this price for Blu-ray. Complete James Bond College with exception of "No Time To Die". If you are a fan of Bond.... don't miss out on this opportunity!

As expected, great packaging with no damaged components, all discs work well (Located in U.S. Region) and the set includes three individual cases for different eras of Bond films. The set does not include No Time to Die though, so that might be a deal breaker for those seeking that film as well. However, for me this is an excellent collection and I highly recommend everyone get one especially if you are a fan of the Bond franchise.

First and foremost, the restoration of these 24 films was unbelievably good, especially for those old Bond movies of the 1960s. The colors are vibrant, they are free of visual defects, and the audio has been upgraded as much as possible given their original recording. It's just impeccable work that far exceeded my expectations. The audio and visual quality of every film is A+. Second, the menu system for the first 20 films is essentially the same and bit odd. Until you get used to the labeling, it is difficult to find what you're looking for, and some of the menu lists like English subtitles start at the bottom of the menu listing instead of the top. So, the menu system gets a C- grade. Having said that, the amount of "extras" for each film is usually 2-4 hours of material in addition to the movies themselves. That's an incredible amount of extra material. While some of the extras may duplicate some of the material, most of it is original. So, big plusses on the "extras." However, and the cumulative reason for taking this set down one star is that the audio for all of the extras is noticeably softer than the rest of these Blu-rays. So, you will increase the volume in order to hear the extra material and then get blasted when it goes back to the audio in the menu system. Repeatedly. For each item, for each grouping, for each and every disc. It's tiresome and annoying. Third, a funny thing happened on my way to watching these movies. Before I started viewing them, I thought I had seen a half dozen of them in my life. But then after viewing the movies, I realized I had only seen clips—mostly the famous ones—of the movies. My brain psychology fooled me into thinking I had seen at least one of the Connery movies, but it turns out I had not seen any of them! In fact, I viewed only two of these 24 Bond films (and part of a third) in my lifetime, so getting a set for essentially less than $2.50 per Blu-ray is an amazingly strong value. As for the movies themselves, everyone has their own favorites based on what appeals to them. In my opinion, there were some real turkeys that I would never like to see again, while there were some that I thought were terrific. Although I don't much care for Daniel Craig as Bond (too gritty and lacking panache), my favorite out of all them is Skyfall (which is a Daniel Craig movie). So good! Every James Bond movie is here, except for the last one, No Time To Die. You will enjoy this wonderful set.

Great dvd set but you are missing never say never again" starring Sean Connery from 1983.

Except for discs not playing

Dear buyer, I brought this collection of James Bond. And I discovered I couldn't play the disks... only a small handful...very disappointed. I didn't expect to have issues playing the disks as I truly believed I would have no issues... I brought this collection here in the UK. I didn't expect to be told to remove your disk and use Region A... and checked that I need a player to play Americas etc. My machine is very top quality... I never had an issue before. I didn't expect to have problems playing these films. I don't live in America... I live here in the UK. Why has the seller allowed people to buy this Blu - Ray collection and hope these films would play on a non A Region. I didn't mind paying £88.16... I thought was not a bad price... considering you get 24 films... I thought wow very good... can't complain. Unfortituniy this has really upset me... I don't know... as I played some disks... I'm not sure if the seller will refund... I'm willing to swap to get the James Bond Collection that I can play in the UK... I'm willing to do this. Some of the films I played are very good and of good quality. I'm confused why some I can play... others I can't... It's not fair to buy products in the UK and have issues stating can't play... please remove... need a Region A to my surprise. When you look down in the list at Amazon... it states all who stars in the films etc... you don't get any mention about what Region you need. Maybe it's me... I truly believed I was buying these films to play in the UK... I was very wrong. The one star reflects the disappointment of not being able to play most of the disks and me paying a fairly high price. Sorry... don't like complaining... I never had any issues with Blu - Ray before... this is my first time. If I had no issues... of course I would have given you 5 stars... without any hesitation... what a shame. Was kind of surprised this last Connery outing as Bond was excluded from this so-called 'definitive/complete' collection.
