Swiss army pedal for tons of stuff!!!
I just discovered this solution for dropping tuning a half or whole step and the detune feature is excellent for Van Halen!

Great for changing keys without having to swap guitars
well, it does lower the pitch, but it is too noisy to be useable. Waste of money.NOTE: I revised my review from a one to a four star. After playing around with the unit, as long as it is first in the chain, the unbearable noise level dropped WAY off.I purchased this specifically because of the key changes I can do during a performance without retuning or swapping guitars…great convenience there. There is a noticeable latency that takes a little adjustment to compensate but not enough to be noticeable within a song mix. Very slight volume change when the unit is turned on and off, but again, not enough to overcome the great sound and convenience. Within 5 semitones, my guitar doesn’t experience any of the weird artifacts or warbles I had experienced with other inexpensive detune pedals and compares favorably with pedals costing three times as much.

Great pedal value
This is a great helper for playing in Nashville's Downtown scene, where often songs are transposed to save a singer's voice. There's other pedal's that do the same thing for much more and take more space on the pedalboard. This is a great option or backup for the digitech. If you're on the fence like I was, just take the plunge it does the things. I will say...it does have a strange oscillating thing that happens to the sound and gets worse the lower down you pitch the unit. keep it to -1 or -2 and you're good. I have used it at -5 for heavier stuff and so far no one's said anything lol.

No Great for Pitching Down Half a Step
I had my hopes up but I sent it back. I was hoping to avoid packing an extra guitar tuned down half a step to gigs but the sound was too much of a compromise. I've heard good things about the DigiTech Drop but went the cheap route. I think I'll just stick with the extra guitar.

Sound indeed better than Digitech
I play Bass in a cover band where too often we need to transpose one or two steps down, cause the singers do not reach the heights of the originals.I already changed to a 5-string, but still, it's very messy to transpose it all on the fly, and often you need those open strings, to get it grooving. So I surely appreciate a device which does the pitch shift for me.I tried the Digitech Drop once which costs more than double, but it influences my bass-tone in a way I could not tolerate, so I had to send it back immediately. Then I stumbled upon the Mooer and thought, can it be better for such a low price? And indeed, it can! You should put it in front of any other effects and then the sound with a pitched signal (for the most I do only -1 and -2) is really good. For a well-trained ear, there is a little latency, but I absolutely can live with it.Since it’s so cheap I really appreciate the sound but if you have any sense of timing the latency would be hard to handle!

Pitchbox: awful.
I’m comparing this VSN Harmonizer and the Mooer Pitch Box to the Donner Harmonic Square. They’re all pitch shifter mini pedals but only the Donner is usable (i actually replaced my EHX Pico Pitchfork with the Donner which is $50 vs the Pitchfork’s $200.)The VSN and Mooer have extremely inaccurate pitch tuning on all intervals and close to slapback level latency. hilarious. The Pico Pitchfork has some very cool features but the sound is really weird and cold. I’m a jazz/blues/fusion/rock/whatevs player and use octaves with drive for lines, 5ths and 4ths for lines and some “synthy” chording over a static tonal center. The Donner sounds great clean or with varying degrees of drive. definitely worth the price
