Decent quality bench power supply at a reasonable price
I bought this bench power supply to replace an older one I had. I needed something with a little more current delivery capability. I ordered the 30V 10A version.The build quality seems pretty good and the dark grey makes it visually appealing to my mind.The display is bright and clear making it easy to read at a glance.I hooked it up to an oscilloscope to see what kind of noise it has, after reading that it does have some.Peak to peak amplitude was in the region of 200mV and RMS was around the 12mV mark.I don't yet do things advanced enough to worry about this however.Checking the voltage with a multimeter it was within 20mV of the set value and the current was within 40mA [measured on a clamp meter, so not very accurate]I had confidence enough in the stated values to kick start some lithium batteries that were refusing to charge, this worked as desired, so it has paid some of its way in rescuing batteries that were destined to go into the recycling, which is a bonus.I've used it to track the current draw of some BLDC motors I was conducting propellor thrust tests on and have confidence in the figures enough to use them to record my results.The output feature is handy, you can set the parameters and hook it all up and only have the power delivered when you wish to have it, this is a step-up up from my previous supply. You also have the capability to set Over Current Protection, which could prove to be handy.As mentioned in other review the beeps are annoying, but can be turned off in the menu system, the power on beep prevails however.All in all I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend it to others for someone who does some electronics tinkering. I cannot rate it against a lab-quality power supply, but for my use case it seems to be solid and reliable.I would say that for the price it is good value for money and I have no gripes with it.I hope this helps inform your choice, if you are considering this model.
