Gesture driving works!
Charged it up and off it goes. My 9 year old got this for his birthday and the gesture operation works well. My 15 year old now wants one!

Hard to control.
Hard to control. Really, really hard to control. Even with the remote. I don't know if it was just the speed of the car (it is fast) or the slight delay in the guidance, but either way, it was a crash fest until the kids just stopped playing with it. It did survive the crashes, so good quality. I wish there was a 1/10th speed setting so the kids could actually have fun controlling it.
