Excellent Size & Organization
I have a problem with buying backpacks - I can't seem to find the perfect one and just keep buying. This one is nearly perfect though! I've been using it now for about 6 months. It fits well under a seat on an airplane as a personal item (though if stuffed, I'm sure it's technically too big for most airlines). The shoulder straps are reasonably comfortable for extended wear. It is a bit on the heavier side when fully empty, but that's due to quality fabrics - this thing can also take a drizzle without getting stuff wet inside (though it is not waterproof and a downpour will get your stuff wet!) The vertical pockets on the front of the bag do not 'pack in' eating up valuable space in the main compartment - this means that you can still stuff the inside while you have items handy and available in those outer pockets. The side pockets are on the smaller side, and will eat into the interior if overstuffed, but I can fit a 20oz insulated cup (no handle) without much issue. I really like the strong balanced top handles which make it easy to grab and move like a tote when you need to just move it a bit in a pinch. Most bags have a single un-balanced top handle that leaves picking it up super awkward - these handles do the trick well. The opening at the top is the real star though - it gives you some extra space to pack out if you need it and can also be snapped down to protect things in the side pockets and prevent them from sliding out too easily. The top opens super wide to allow amazing access to the items inside. The sleeve along the back for a laptop is a bit underwhelming in terms of cushioning to protect your electronics, but it's huge. It's size allows me to fit my 14" MacBook inside a protective sleeve along with some papers, an iPad, chargers, mouse, and cables so that all those electronics are together and not floating around in the bag. This bag has gone with me on 4 round trip flights. I did get some dirt from a plane on one of the front pockets, but a little soap and water got it all clean again. It's taken abuse getting on and off planes without any issues. It has worked as a daypack, personal airplane bag, and daily carry for awhile now. Downsides are few - the chest strap isn't super adjustable and adjusting it up or down along the shoulder straps requires you to sit and spend some time (and there are only about 3-4 actual options to hook it on the shoulder straps) . The side water bottle pockets could definitely benefit from a small gusset to allow them to hold larger water bottles easier. I'd also love some type of loop somewhere on the front that would allow you to lock the two front pockets if you want to keep things more secure when traveling/using as a daypack in the city.

Great seller. Arrived early. Excellent backpack!

Perfectly balanced
Best feature: The side pockets will fit a notebook/book. 6 inches wide maximum, maybe inch thick, paperback. My favorite backpack for when it’s not raining. Bought it so my waterproof “ortlieb” doesn’t get used as much and lasts longer.

Sturdy, heavy, not ideal for long distances
In terms of aesthetics, this backpack is great. The material is durable and water resistant and feels of good quality. The handles make for an easy carry when backpack wear isn't ideal. I got the terracotta color because it was cheapest (and thinking it wouldn't be my favorite color) but turns out I like it a lot and I'm glad I got the one I did, as it doesn't show dirt easily, and the color works well with any color clothing. I clipped a shoulder strap to the loops on the bottle pockets to make for an additional carry option. That all being said, I took this on a four day trip with lots of walking around, and I wouldn't do it again. The shoulder straps simply aren't padded well enough to prevent discomfort when the bag is carrying a heavier load. The backpack itself is already hefty, so adding my laptop and a few essentials made it dig into my shoulders after enough time. I found myself in genuine pain if I loaded it too heavy. It's a great bag for lighter items or shorter excursions, but don't expect strong back and shoulder support. Other issues: the laptop slot feels like an afterthought. It's not padded, and while it will keep your laptop in place, it won't do much more. At this price point, I'd expect some cushioning and a suspension system to protect the laptop from falls. Not a deal breaker; also not ideal. The water bottle pockets fit my 24oz owala, but I doubt they'd fit much more. I ended up using them for storing essentials for easy access and kept my water in the main compartment. Speaking of the main compartment, there isn't much by way of organization. There's a single zippered pocket that could hold my wallet and my headphones. Aside from that, it's a void in which to lose small items. The front pockets help ameliorate this, but only just. It's a nice bag, though I would've chosen something different for my trip had I known these flaws ahead of time.

dimensions
Converting from metric to english, this pack is approximately: 15.35" x 12.20" x 7.48". Front outside pockets appear optimal for a hoodie/jacket/pashma scarf in one and a flask with a beverage in the other, or your straw in the pen-holder. It doesn't suffer from pocket-itus or padding (which need to be cut out) so 21 liters really might be usable space.

Firstly, I love Fjallraven products - I am a bit of a fanboy. I still use my original Kanken backpack and I have multiple holdalls and jackets. I was excited about this pack but having had it for over a year now, I find the following: The Good: 1) it is a comfortable daily pack for my commute to work. The straps seem quite minimal - but they are well designed, comfy and fit me just fine. 2) There is enough space for a moderate amount of stuff and it feels 'open' enough to have a relatively easy rummage around. 3) The big main top zip is easy to open and close and shove your stuff in. 4) The two large outer zip-up pockets are very roomy and I can get all sorts of things in there. Really useful. *** EDIT *** this is actually a brilliant feature and one I constantly find useful because of the (significant) size of them. 5) The two outer pouches (on either side) can fit an umbrella or a drinks bottle or a pair of gloves etc for relatively easy access. 6) design, fit, materials and manufacturing quality are high as usual with their products. Looks good. Will last (and has lasted perfectly so far). Leather grab handles are a nice feature. Zips are robust and smooth and easy to use. Feels like a throw back. The Flaws: 1) *** EDIT *** The criticism of the laptop compartment remains the big outstanding issue with the bag for me. The laptop compartment has no internal padding at all and lacks any side padding. It's a thin fabric pouch and you just would not put your valuable laptop in there next to whatever objects were in the main compartment. If they are hard or irregular shaped, they will press directly into your laptop. You absolutely need a dedicated laptop sleeve to use the bag - and that only eats further into the already limited internal volume. By going too minimal, they have defeated their own purpose and forced you to go over the top with a whole sleeve. The back padding on the backpack is perfectly good enough - so a laptop sleeve, though necessary for the padding it provides on the inward (or forward) facing surface, is totally unnecessary for the backward facing surface (which already has a thick pad) - resulting in wasted space and unnecessary doubling up of padding. 2) The main compartment fills up very quickly and does not allow for much overstuffing. When you are out of room, that's that and the outer pockets get tight and it just feels like you suddenly run out of space. The bag does not like being too full. It needs to be at about 10-15% below capacity to allow for easy closing of zips, buttoning down side pouches and accessing the zip-up pouches. *** EDIT *** This is in part because of the heavy duty material with very little give in it - so its a strength and a weakness. 3) There is very little internal organisation. No real pouch, compartment or pocket for anything secure. There is a very thin fabric 'purse' at the upper inside - which is good for very small things. Nothing else inside. One or two very small sewn in pockets inside the external zip-up pouches but these are not up to much. Your organisation is really 1 x main compartment, 2 x zip up pouches on the face of the bag and 2 x side pouches. 4) There is nowhere really secure - the outer zip up pouches could not be easier to unzip and steal from. They are also vertical access - so if you forget to close one, you could also be in trouble simply from things falling out. If you want secure (say for a wallet, keys etc) you have to put whatever it is in the main compartment with everything else OR try and get it into the fabric pouch inside. Not great. 5) The top flap has a pop-fastener in a silly place that is often hard to close unless the bag is empty enough that you can pinch them together between finger and thumb. On a busy workday, I cannot get enough in. I hate having to waste space with a laptop sleeve - it really should have a better compartment as standard. As a result, the bag often gets relegated to light day use because it is not quite the 'haul' pack I was hoping for. If it was 30% bigger, you could then maybe say it 'hauls' things about. I actually prefer the 17" laptop Kanken for its excellent 'mini-suitcase' opening which allows for very versatile access and maximum use of the internal volume in addition to a brilliant laptop compartment. *** EDIT *** I still hate the laptop divider - and having to use a sleeve eats heavily into the available space. On the upside, as working electronically is on the increase and paper and files are on the decrease, it is becoming less and less of an issue. I still cannot easily get a pair of shoes in the bag along with everything else, or a jacket, or an Amazon package - but I am getting used to the bag and it is moving up in the rankings - hence going from 3 star to 4 star. It's incredibly well made, is aging beautifully, styles well with everything and has a certain mojo.

Super Tasche für die Arbeit. Großer 16“ Rechner passt gut in die Tasche. Genügend Platz für Maus, Kabel, Ladegerät usw. Finde gute Unterteilung, nicht zu viele Untertaschen. Material halt wirklich Perfekt, kein Plastik Mist!!

I’ve always been a fan of Fljallraven bags and so far this pack meets all my needs. It’s easy to access my things without being bulky. And I can access things I need easily. Best, it can stand on its own.
