You don't know what you were missing until you have one!
While these are intended to be used with large and bulky transformers to plug them into a surge protector without hogging all the spots, that is only 1 of the many uses! These are great for hanging Decorative lighting as well. While a 10 or 12 inches extension doesn't sound like much, It sure makes it easier to get the coverage you want with those lights. I have lost track of the number of times the strand was just a few inches short, requiring me to take the whole thing down and re-plan or toss another light strand up.We have all been in this situation. Plug something in, only to realize the power cord is now very tight. This can cause damage to the plug, or cause you to compromise on where you set the device you plugged in.Probably one of the most useful features of these extensions, is the extra plug. Has the added benefit of not taking the last outlet. I used to bring a surge protector with me to hotel rooms, but now I just toss 1 or 2 of these into my bags.I have been a Mobile DJ for many years. I used to struggle when it came to plugging my light show in. Constantly had to re-think how to plug in lights. Always ran into cords being 6 or 8 inches short... These extensions also have the added benefit of allowing me to plug 2 LED fixtures into one control outlet. If you are unfamiliar with DJ lighting systems. Each outlet has a separate on and off switch. Now I can get 2 lights to turn on at the same time! Saving the other switches for more variety in the light show.

Great for reducing cable clutter
I have been revising two areas where I have a lot of tangled cables, by buying shorter cables, power strips, network hubs, and the like to reduce the run of cables needed to connect equipment together - the home entertainment area (which mixes stereo, TV, and computer equipment) and the home office PC (which is the same except with a computer monitor instead of a TV, and has more computers, and more wall warts). This flavor of power strip liberators, with the pass through option, allows me to make better use of the power strip while still supporting the wall warts for things like network hubs and other computer accessories. Equipment that uses wall warts require very little current, so it does not burden the circuit to "double up" a socket. Therefore, a pass-through plug/socket pair allows me to still use the power strip socket for a computer while also plugging in a wall wart for some device. It's easier to understand by seeing it than in words.Having the wire come off at an angle makes this fit well into my power strip. If there was an improvement to this device, it would be to shorten the wire to just a couple of inches, so that the wall wart is a bit closer to the power strip, with a bit less cable clutter. But I suppose that having the wire at this length gives a bit more flexibility that will be important for some situations.Four stars means "I like it". It's a very useful product, price is right. It does the job it is designed to do. Why not five stars? I reserve five stars for products that go above and beyond somehow, and this simply does its job.

Exceptionally well made outlet liberator - free your power strip of power bricks and oversized plugs
I seem to own a surprising number of electronic gadgets that feature an AC plug directly out of the appliance itself. If plugged into a power strip, these devices typically would block multiple outlets of the power strip. These liberator cables allow the user to plug the bulky power brick or device into a short extension cord, so that the other outlets in a power strip are not blocked. In addition, the design of this unit provides a block extension of your original outlet so that you've retained use of that outlet for something else, multiplying your available outlets. When I 1st purchased these in 2012, they were an exceptional value for the price. Since then, the price is now nearly double, so not quite the value they used to be, but still very worthwhile to have a supply of these at home.

Very good - but be aware
These are an excellent idea and I have used them well with wall-warts that block an adjacent power plug.BUT - the complaints about them being a VERY tight fit on the socket that sits flush to the wall are correct. However the explanation WHY is very simple. In order to test how tight that socket is without ruining any of my own cables, I plugged the cable into itself to form an "O". It was not tight at all so I looked closer at the male portion. The two flat prongs are identical - one side is not fatter than the other. With power plugs where one flat-prong is larger than the other, the fit will be very tight. To test this, I used a 2-prong power cable that has the connectors of different widths so I would have room to wiggle it out, whereas a 3-prong would not allow that. Sure enough, the 2-prong with different widths for proper orientation in a socket was a tight fit. With 3-prongs, one flat-connector being wider than the other is out-of-date, since the grounding prong forces only 1 orientation in the socket. BUT - a lot of 3-prongs are built that way, so be aware.I can still use 4 out of 5 with a 3-prong cable into the wall-flush socket without much difficulty. On the tightest one, I just plug something with a 2-prong cable into it so I can wiggle it out.The connectors on the end of the tail have no problems at all.

Reliable, useful product, but unresasonable price increases
I bought some of these in 2011, and they have been in continuous use since then (although I've only changed the devices plugged into them a few times and the UPS that they plug into once since then) and they are still working reliably. As others have mentioned, it can be a bit difficult to fully connect/disconnect them from some devices, but they are otherwise well designed. When I purchased them in April 2011 for $11.85/set (of 5), they seemed like a reasonable deal. I wanted to get more, but I'm having trouble justifying a purchase now (September 2020) that the price has tripled in less than a decade.
