Doesn't work for me - UPDATE
Despite the unit being in direct sunlight for most of the daylight hours, it didn't seem to charge the battery for when the camera is actually in use during the night. It's disappointing, but to be fair it could be a faulty unit. So I will be returning this unit for a replacement to see how that goes.UPDATE...So following a somewhat negative experience initially, the Blink team reached out and quickly provided a replacement unit along with support emails to make sure all was well. The replacement unit appears to be working as expected, so the original one must have been faulty... which happens from time to time.I've been very impressed with the Blink team doing all they could to resolve the problem and ensure customer satisifaction, so I now feel confident to add more Blink products to my set-up. Thank you Blink team.

You will need alot if sun
I really liked the design of the Solar mount . Very easy to install all you need is to drill 2 holes and your away. Took the batteries out of my camera and plugged the solar mount to it. The camera booted up and I could see it on the app. The power will say external power ok, now that is a problem as the app will not tell you how much power is left in the sola panel or if the battery is charging. With in two weeks the camera stopped working as the battery in the solar panel has ran out. The solar panel is in a place where it gets sunlight. So unfortunately for me I do not live in the Sahara desert where I would get enough sunlight for it to work. Good idea but for me it has not worked.Update I may of had a broken sola panel I have now received a new one and going to give it another go and I will update this review in a few weeks.Blinks customer care has been great always very polite and helpful a credit to Blink.Update 01.01.21I have put the replacement Sola Panel back up in a different location on the front of my house. The front of my house will be in sunlight in the mornings (when the sun is out as its winter so its overcast). I have had the camera up now for three weeks to see if it will power the camera and all was good for the first week and then the camera stopped working and have never started to work due to no power from the sola panel. I really wanted this product to work but in my experience it looks like the panel will not work in the UK winter where it is overcast for most of the day. I am thinking of using batteries in the camera over the winter and the Sola panel over the summer (when it should work). Such a shame that this sola panel will not work over the winter.June 2022 Update, I now give up on the sola panel its been very sunny for a few weeks now and still I cannot get the sola panel to charge the battery, the camera just shows off line and no power. I know sometimes things don't work how they should and its nice when the customer and company can work together to solve the problem. I have had the camera since the launched date and have had the solar panel replaced once. I have emails blink in January about the ongoing issue and had no reply. I left it till the summer to see if it work in very good sunlight which it does not. I emailed link again in June this year and have had no reply blink basically ignoring me. I dont know which is worse the Sola Panel not working or Blink so called customer care not responding or helping there customers. I will now think twice about buying any more Blink products or recommending Blink due the very bad customer care. I have now put my review down to 1 star due to very bad customer care and also because the solar panel will just not work. Please think before you buy this product.

*edit* doesn't charge
Update.Blink got in touch with me and where the product didn't charge on solar they sent me a replacement unit. New unit works perfectly I must have just been unlucky with the one I had.Great customer service highly recommend***********Got this for my back garden so could mouth the camera high up and not worry about changing it. I've tried 3 different brands of batteries both solar charge and normal and unfortunately every time the camera has ran flat in a few months. The camera it's self is brilliant I've 4 and they pick up good sound and motion. Sadly just the solar panel was the let down I was hoping to get a few more for the other cameras if this worked but I'll just stick with swapping batteries out every few months and trying my self. The mount it self is good quality and easy to fit sadly the main reason for buying didn't work

Good idea to save batteries. If it worked
EDIT. 8 days later and it is no longer showing as an external power source and the camera battery is in the red. The unit is obviously not working. I am still waiting for the, to reply to my email of two days ago.EDIT. Customer support finally sent me a new battery for the unit, which seems to have solved it. My only issue was the long response times to my messages, making the problem last much longer than it needed to.My solar charging panel worked for about a month. After that the camera wasn’t even seeing it. I contacted support and they gave me suggestions to try, none of which helped. Their emails only come through one per day so it has been over two weeks now and their latest suggestion was to replace the battery in the panel. They are an unusual type and I couldn’t even find them for sale on Amazon! I am getting really fed up with blink now. I am not getting a decent system and paying £8 a month for it.

Works well
Have the blink outdoor connected and it's been running for 7 hours during the day and 8 hours over night for 10 days now, it gets sun from around 11 till sun set not that there is a lot in winter but camera reports batteries as good. So working well.Month later after 2 weeks of dull grey sky battrys gave up and camera is now off line, going to get a set of batteries and charge them then replace existing ones as don't think sunlight in winter will give much charge to the fitted ones.Took time to fine the 18650 batteries is a protected vertion not an unprotected one and so is around 3 ti 4 mm longer, now have 3 of them. After fully charging them I find that the first new one has so far lasted 2 months (02/01/25) and still shows as good. May be an idea to fully charge the 18650 in a charger before using the solar mount. Second charged batterie a 3400ma lasted 6 months with 2 months of reasonable sun for 6 to 8 hours a day, changed to 3200ma one now 19-7-25, even with 6 hours sun per day and 8 to 13 hours of camera active per day with only 2 or 3 15sec recordings per day battrie is down to 20% charge so solar pannel is not good enough to keep charged with long activation even with very few 15sec recordings, time to check other solar options
