Pharmacology Flashcards (Lange Flash Cards): 9780071792912: Medicine & Health Science Books @ desertcart.com Review: Highly recommend for Step I or Level I exam prep - I originally purchased a different set of pharmacology flashcards and I was not impressed at all. I saw a lot of other students using these Lange flashcards, and they looked pretty good, so I ordered them. They are excellent flashcards for reviewing pharm for either Step I or Level I exams! I highly recommend them. They provide a short vignette, from which you must decide what the drug is. On the reverse side of the card, they provide ALL relevant information for the mechanism of action, therapeutic uses, adverse effects and any other notes you should know pertaining to the drug. Review: Recommended as high-yield for Step 1, with just some minor issues - This is a very good, high-yield resource for USMLE Step 1. Pros: +It has >95% of the drugs you will need to know for the exam +excellent case-based review and bold lettering for the most important content +It does a particularly good job with the autonomic nervous system +good summary card for each major drug class Cons: -some cards have too many drugs grouped together (e.g. an entire card called "anesthetics") -cards are made out of paper and more flimsy than comparable cards

Great review resource
Great review resource for USMLE Step 1! They are hundreds of clinical vignettes which are great for reinforcing the information. Each card includes the drugs MOA, uses, and side effects. I thoughtt the cards were a good size and not too flimsy. The only annoying thing is that the cards are very squished in the box so if I try to take out one card, I end up taking out like 20. Overall, a great resource and I would recommend it for Step 1.

Great for block study
These are a good way to study pharm as a med student if you hate studying pharm. I always had difficulty just rereading the material, so this makes it more interesting. These are great for block study. I wouldn't suggest using for STEP1 intensive study just because they are time consuming and not super similar to STEP questions. They are separated by general purpose for example cardio, GI, neuro, etc.

Great material, but quality is lacking
I got these cards today, and went through the antimicrobials section, and thought the cards themselves were amazing. I used them after watching the antimicrobials section in Kaplan's video series, and I thought they were great in helping me review the material and retain the knowledge. The cards have a bunch of clinical vignettes, which I think is a great way to prepare for the USMLE step 1. However, the build of the cards is pretty lacking. They are a bit flimsier than normal blank notecards you'd buy, but a bit sturdier than normal printing paper (not saying much). I would've given it a 5 out of 5 if they were printed on paper more like other flashcards out there (i.e. Netters, Rubin's Pathology, etc)

An excellent resource for Step 1
I found the flash card material to be perfect for my needs; it's a thick paper that's conducive to writing and highlighting. I used these cards as a repository for the pharm info that's scattered throughout First Aid, writing down any high-yield facts that weren't already on the cards. I would highly recommend these to 1st and 2nd year medical students as a wise Step 1 study investment (used alongside FA, of course).

Medical Student Review
Positives: The information is relatively straightforward and words are bolded that are the more pronounced effects or actions of the drug. The vignette is on one side so can be used for testing purposes. They come in a fancy box you can use to shelve them away forever. Negatives: The cards are the same quality as cheap notecards (not the good card stock everyday variety, but the dollar store kind). A lot of the drugs are combined on one card if they have something in common regardless if they have different applications. For example, reserpine (which inhibits the ability to store some catecholamines) is lumped with cocaine (which blocks catecholamine reuptake). These two drugs have nearly opposite effects yet are on the same card...? The clinical vignettes are very obvious and not challenging. Any vignette that begins with "a medical student was studying medical history" should be thrown out. Also, all of the cards are the same color, which makes it difficult to move around different sections of the deck. A few drugs included in my pharm class weren't included in the deck at all. I can't blame the author for that, but either I have to make my own flashcards or not even bother using these. I opted for the latter since making flashcards doesn't help me remember the information. I also found myself adding a LOT of extra information that our class needed and wasn't included. Again, can't blame the author who is probably including the actual relevant clinical information for boards. I pretty much have no use for these now.

Love them! Very, very useful
These cards are great. I just had a exam which had a lot of pharm. These cards helped tremendously. They provide a clinical vignette which is very important for the boards and for class exams. On the back of the card, there is a summary of side effects, clinical uses, and more. Certain key features of each drug are bolded which is extremely helpful. Everything I learned from my lecture powerpoints were summarized on these cards. The only downfall of this product is the flimsiness of the cards. They are paper thin and are not laminated. That's the only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. But ultimately what matters is the content of the cards and I can assure you that these are awesome. I recommend this to all other fellow medical students.

Good cards for those preparing for higher education. Only concern is that Amazon first accepted the order on COD and near the date of despatch they regretted NO Stocks and cancelled the order of their own, but for fresh orders website was open at the same time but this time NOT ON COD basis but full prior payment. I placed the order with full payment and got the supplies on scheduled date.
