Luminoodle Basecamp

I absolutely LOVE this light! We bought it just in time to take it camping with us on a cross-country 5700 mile trip where we dry-camped for almost the entire trip. While we didn't benefit from its portability, we decided to mount it to the side of the camper with the included screw on mounting strips (it comes with 4). We could still pull it off if we needed to, but I opted to use it as our rather permanent outside lighting. When we were dry camping, we plugged it into our 12V receptacle inside the camper via extension cord whereas we used the 110v plug when we had electricity. It was so much fun to have a variety of colors and enjoy the light as we were nestled in some off-the-wall places in Glacier, Yellowstone and Tetons. The remote works wonderfully and is great to have when you're sitting around the fire and you want to change the mood. Customer service was awesome when I requested more mounting brackets. Price is a little steep but quality and functionality is amazing!

I have been looking for a while for an exterior LED rope light option that would allow me to plug in directly from my 12V batteries. All of the cheap copper wires string lights have very odd amperage requirements which made it impossible to find a transformer to power it off the RV batteries. So I finally stumbled across this - it fits the bill from a power standpoint. I can plug it into 110V when I have my trailer plugged in, or can plug it in via cigarette lighter off the battery when I am boondocking. The lights work very well - great color, brightness, and motion settings. Remote is very responsive. The biggest issue I see is that the magnets are not very strong... I have to be pretty strategic as to where to locate the magnets so that I can utilize the bends in the canopy frame to help support the rope light. Even then, I sometimes see one of the magnets not able to hold on. Not a big deal, but I hope that future versions have upgraded magnets to resolve this. All in all, I really like it. Apart from the pretty high price and the magnet strength issue, I think it's a very well thought out exterior light solution. Honestly, though, if I didn't need the ability to power it off the battery, I might be farther ahead to simply buy those cheap copper wire / LED string lights for $10 and replace them when they give out. That would ultimately be cheaper than this, but not nearly the same build quality.

These lights are awesome. I actually had to sort prices high to low to find them. So many junk light ropes out there it was like finding a needle in a haystack. I’m in quality assurance so I really appreciate good quality products like this. Company is out of Utah so they know their stuff on outdoor adventures and have great customer service. Lights are pricy compared to the cheap knock off light ropes out there but light years ahead of them. Super sturdy, thick, durable and well made. I am so excited to use these around my fire pit.

This string of quality LED’s have been working perfectly as baseboard lighting, for over a year now. I’ve only had one issue, and that turned out to be the lithium cell in the remote control, which cost $2 from Walmart. The current consumption on medium is good, with a 38 Ah battery giving three to four nights of use. This obviously does not apply if you use the mains adapter supplied. All in all, I’d buy this product again, as it has the quality and reliability I want, and the price was reasonable too!

The light color and brightness adjustments are a really nice upgrade from the 5 and 10ft Luminoodles. The package comes with mounting clips if you wanted to have a permanent mount and still be able to remove the luminoodle for travel or something. This model is great for car camping because you can power it off 12v or 120v. You can adjust the light color to get a more neutral or warm white light, which is also nice. One nice thing about this style light versus a lantern is that you can string this up in such a way that you don't have as many shadows and don't have to worry about how you position yourself like if you are cooking at night or something.

I've owned a 10' and two 5" Luminoodles. I've used them in my Campervan without any issues. I upgraded my 12V system to include a LIFEPO4 battery and thought the Basecamp would be a great addon for trips. I ordered the first one, it arrived, and a couple of days later I opened it and tried it out using the 12V car adapter. It lit up for an all of 30 seconds, then went dark. I tried the wall charger in 12V and in 110, still nothing. I looked up Power Practical's customer service options, which it's basically they'll exchange it when they get around to it. So, I had Amazon ship me a replacement. Got it, plugged it in, and DOA out of the box. It didn't even flicker once. It seems they're now cheaping out on their construction and the company doesn't even have a customer service number you can call. This thing is WAY overpriced for what it is, and it didn't even work straight out of the box. Sneding both back and Amazon is issuing a refund. THIS is exactly why I buy through Amazon whenever possible. If I had bought directly from Power Practical I would have been at the mercy of a company which apparently isn't too concerned with the customer's experience.

I have bought several sets of Luminoodles and I think they are great. Astonishingly bright, cool and versatile. Much better than cheaper imitations My one hesitation is that twice the controller on my Luminoodles has gone bad. The company was great, replacing the broken part for a modest fee. Still, it was annoying when taking out the light strips and discovering that, instead of many choices and brightness level, I was stuck with raspberry flashing lights.

They are really easy to use and even more convenient Different brightness and colors and patterns Awesome for all around use

I just received my 20' Luminoodle Basecamp since I was away working out of town.I tried it out at home and I'm very impressed with this light! It's well packaged but mine only came with 3 Universal Ties instead of 4....not the end of the world. I'll be testing it out in two days for the long weekend and will update this review after. UPDATE:The light is nice and bright!Only issue is that 3 of the led bulbs are stuck on yellow on the second night of use.its annoying. UPDATE:The issue was solved without me even asking!! I'm very pleased with outcome!! I still only have three universal ties and the description says that four comes in the package. Not a big deal though.

Worked great for camping, make sure you have the right way to power it. It took a little finessing to make it work for camping

The product is second to none , very high quality. One mounting option is with 4 wall brackets but the 20’ of lighting needs a minimum of 8 wall brackets to eliminate excessive sag

Awesome lights ,but power supply burned out. I think there is a 1 year warranty.how can I reach Loominoodle?

Quality construction. Looks like its going to last. Used in a camper conversion for my pickup.
