Negotiate This!: By Caring, but Not T-H-A-T Much

Negotiating 201
If his book "You Can Negotiate Anything", written in the 1980's was negotiating 101, then this is a step up and builds on, rather than repeats the lessons in his earlier book.About the same time his first book was published Herb Cohen was consulted regarding the seizure of the US Embassy hostages in Iran. In this book he outlines his involvement in that incident, and uses it to illustrate some of the recommendations he makes this time around. While this is not a "once over lightly" commentary on negotiating, it is immensely readable and if you end up buying it the book will serve you well on a number of levels - either as an entertaining read, a means of enhancing your own negotiating skills, or a how-to for budding negotiators at any level. If you've never read his first book, never mind - this is even better. I highly recommend it.

Great book for all who are parents or employees
Read Mr. Cohen’s first book many years ago after attending one of his seminars. It helped me to raise my 2 children, interact with my wife and succeed in a management position during my career. The information presented by Mr. Cohen is valuable and useful, easy to understand and even fun to read. You don;t have to be President or a hostage negotiator to gain valuable information from this book. I urge all to give it a try.

You Need This Book No Matter What You Do.
It doesn't matter what you do for a living, if are retired, or a young student. You need to read it, and I was lucky to find it. Most anything in life can be negotiated in some way or another. Herb Cohen is honest, humble, enlightening, and hilarious at times.I negotiate successful business deals and form partnerships with companies for a living. I have also been trained to negotiate hostile confrontations and other situations of critical nature. I highly regard this book as the true authority on handling the important things in life, love, and personal pursuits. This book was highly recommended to me by a very smart friend
This book was highly recommended to me by a very smart friend, and I wasn't disappointed. Cohen is also very funny, and his writing is memorable - which makes it 'stick' so you can remember it in the heat of the moment. The beauty of a little detachment - a hint of Zen when life seems most competitive and contentious - is one of this book's many memorable insights.

buon libro, americano quindi lento

This is one Interesting and Useful Book.
This book was recommended to me by my financial advisor. Once I got into it I found it difficult to put down. It really does outline principles on how to negotiate any number of things in life, and not to be overbearing about it. It is very real, as Herb points out he has been on the receiving end as well as the 'giving' end of negotiations. It is not technical, any person from someone who has not finished high school to a university grad (me) would find this an easy, practical, engaging read. I have learned to read and pass on books, this one I have kept to read again.
