Excellent book for sufferers of OCD, etc., but not the definitive answer ~ Needs to be used in concert with professional help
While this is a good book for people suffering from OCD, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc., I don't feel as if it provides the final answer to addressing all of these issues. I didn't find it particularly easy to read, and although quite compassionate in nature, the first part was very difficult to get through. I realize that Adam had to tell his story, but I couldn't wait for this part of the book to end. It was very useful reading Lauren's comments regarding Adam's situation, but after awhile I found myself waiting in anticipation for the treatment strategy section to begin. The second part of the book does a nice job of providing an overall plan for dealing with the above issues, but in of of itself, it's not enough to be the definitive answer. I would say that this is a great book for those who are suffering from OCD and related traumas, but further reading and professional help will be needed as an adjunct to the material covered in the book. Those who are suffering from depression, OCD, etc., are usually not in a state of mind where reading through a lengthy book will be of much help. With that said, this book is one of the best ones that I've read on the subject, but I've also read much shorter volumes that have been just as helpful. My advice to anyone seeking answers to the issues addressed in this book, would be to seek professional help first. Than, using the material in the book will be much more helpful, as it will supplement the advice/treatment that will be provided by a mental health professional. This is a good book, just not the final answer, or a standalone solution. I do applaud the authors for trying to provide the definitive answer, but even they would admit that supplementary professional help would be a great complement to the material provided here.

Very helpful
Reading about Adam’s story helped me learn more about my own anxiety and obsessive thoughts and encouraged me to pursue steps to recovery. Connecting to his story about OCD and how he got over his darkest point made me take a step back and try to gain control over my life again. I’m so glad I read this book.

The most helpful book on coping with OCD, Panic Attacks and Depression I've ever read!
I read this book with awe. Adam Shaw’s incredibly compelling story of his struggles trying to manage his OCD and how he overcame his suicidal thoughts, severe anxiety and depression with the help of world-renowned psychologist, Dr. Lauren Callaghan is fascinating. The second part of the book offers helpful step-by –step tips for anyone seeking help with their own anxiety, panic attacks or depression and is the ultimate guide for anyone who cannot get access to mental health care. It offers an easy to understand, cognitive-based recovery approach concentrating on three areas: accept, embrace and control. Buy this book . You’ll be so glad you did!

Inside the mind of the sufferer
This is the first book I have found that goes into detail from the point of view of the sufferer. We read exactly what he was thinking and feeling for years before receiving successful treatment. Now I finally understand what my loved one has been going through.

Very interesting and helpful
This book is well-written and gives an insightful view of OCD and anxiety. Using Adam’s life experiences along with this approach to therapy makes it relatable and easy to understand and apply. I recommend this book to anyone who wants relief from intrusive thoughts to more serious issues with OCD and anxiety. I used the audio version and wish I had the book for future reference.

Frustrating and over-priced
This is a book for sufferers of OCD, anxiety, panic attacks and related depression, currently sitting on top of Amazon’s search lists for books on those topics. Adam Shaw, a successful businessman and founder of a mental health charity, reveals his problems with OCD and how Lauren Callaghan’s approach to treating him worked. The book was published by Trigger Press in 2016, which is a publishing company created by Shaw (Managing Director) and Callaghan (Director). As a sufferer from obsessive thoughts, anxiety and depression, and diagnosed with BPD I bought the book hoping for at least something helpful.Reading through the book I remember being very frustrated as page after page (85 of them including the introduction to be precise) just detailed Adam Shaw’s problems and kept saying how wonderful the new approach to treatment was without going on to spell it out. It actually made me quite angry. In the second part of book the back-slapping continued. I finished the book wishing that they had just written: ‘Adam had OCD and Lauren told him to accept it’. It would have saved me a lot of time, effort and cash. The conclusion is all that you really need to read.Accepting that you have OCD and panic attacks is very difficult. Embracing it feels wrong. It is not for the faint-hearted and I can envisage many feeling that this approach is not for them. I’m not criticising the technique because it obviously works for some people. I just think this could have been an article on a website and not a book because it keeps repeating itself all the way through. I would advise people to google treatment for OCD and read about it online instead.

Thank you
Being a sufferer myself for many years and going through a bad episode, I came across this truely honest and brilliant book. I’ve tried everything and spent so much money and time trying to fight OCD but like Adam I have taken Lauren’s advice and I truely for the first time in my life feel that I am able to get better and deal with it.You have given me the courage to face my OCD head on and there are parts of this book I will practice and use for the rest of my life.Thank you for speaking out and writing such an amazing and true account. If I can help one other person like you have helped me I know that all of this would have been worth going through.

An incredibly unique approach to mental health! I loved how Adam's story intertwined with Dr Lauren's commentary.A must-read for anyone that is suffering or wants to understand mental health, particularly OCD, anxiety and depression, more thoroughly!
