Essential for First Aid Kit
Very sharp. Very strong.I replaced the cheap junk shears in my FAK after discovering how useless they were, whilst trying to cut someone's long-haired dog free from brambles. This is not the situation you want to be in when you find out that your kit is junk. These replacements really are worth the money. The blade protection fits with a nice click and enough force so it doesn't fall off. The grips are sturdy and allow you to apply a lot of force - useful if you need to cut through brambles as thick as your thumb, or boot leather or very heavy cordura. Obviously there is no "guard" as with first aid snips, so caution needed if cutting tight clothing away from skin, and especially since the one scissor blade is semi-sharpened on the outside - good for splitting parcel tape - but so it a key.The serrations at the inside of the scissors work well to grip the thing being cut, so the force is applied directly to cutting, rather than the item sliding forwards out of the jaws as would be the case if there were no serrations. Great quality.

Heavy duty . Cut through thick leather belt cleanly for example. Ideal for opening every sort of packaging.

Shears - lost in translation
As a professional engineer these are really shears rather than scissors. The blades are short, serrated and strong, but the jaw opening size is small. These are perfect for all the short distance, rough cutting jobs associated with an Electricians trade and compare exceptionally well with those marketed for that purpose. However, these are not, for the reasons stated above, good as general purpose, precision or DIY scissors noting that ENGINEER make specific models for those purposes. If you need to cut very short strips of rubber, plastic, cable insulation, vinyl, foam sheet or leather these are perfect, but I would not use them for a precision cut beyond 10cm - choose another model!

Excellent
The stainless steel of these heavy duty scissors are stated to have the Rockwell hardness of HRC 58 which means they will hold a good edge.CAUTION! Be very careful of the wire cutters! Mind your fingers!!!I put the scissors through a similar test as depicted in the video. Using the directions advised by the manufacturer, they cut very well. Their only rival are Leatherman Raptor Shears, except those are for professionals such as medical people such as first responders and Raptors' steel is 420HC Stainless Steel. The shears are comfortable to hold for having glass-filled nylon scales (handles). They can be bought on Amazon.Back to these scissors by ENGINEER. My only complaint are the handles and those nasty wire cutters. The handles, a drab olive green are plasticy, cumbersome and can be difficult for some hands. Their equally plastic sheath leaves a lot to be desired because extracting the scissors is difficult. Also note the sheath can not be attached to a belt, unlike the Raptor Shears. At the end of the day it all comes down to what you can afford. Having already had the Leatherman Raptors for many years and are still good, but at a price, these scissors - not classified as shears - are cheap and will be good for most domestic uses. The reason I gave only 4 stars is because their wire cutters could be dangerous, the scissors' handles are not too comfortable and their blades could rust unless they are kept dry and lightly oiled.

Sturdy and robust - I like these scissors!
Sturdy and robust - I like these scissors! I have medium sized hands but I would say that large hands might have some difficulty. The handles enable you to grip the scissors comfortably. They are made from very hard plastic moulded on (or super-glued?), not the usual softish rubber-like plastic which have split on my kitchen scissors. The same hard plastic is used for the safety/storage sheath.I read one reviewer's comments. He says he sliced off half the pad of his left hand when cutting wire with these scissors. Actually you can cut your fingers and thumbs with practically any wire cutters. User beware! The scissor blades are made from thicker steel (3.0mm) than most kitchen scissors (2.0mm) that I have owned and the machined pivot and nut are the most robust I've ever seen in domestic scissors. No plastic washers which make the pivot loose after a while.Nice to see "Made in Japan" for a change. Most things seem to be made in China these days.

Bad at multiple functions, great as scissors
This was an impulse buy, but I am very happy with them. They are sharp and more importantly can and do take an edge with sharpening. The handle is surprisingly strong and not at all flimsy as one of the other reviewers stated. The sheath is just OK, it is a little flimsy and loses grip after a few uses, but its plastic so not unexpected. The 4 in 1 claim is stretching it a bit, it does cut leather hide up to 4mm with ease, wire upto 4mm coax but it really does depend on the material. The images show a person using both hands to brace with thicker items, this should really tell you all you need to know about how capable these are with thick materials. In my opinion, if you want strong, long lasting pair of scissors then these are for you, but don't get them to replace or combine wire cutters/strippers. Stick to individual tools.
