I've been using enzyme/bacteria-based cleaners for urine for a few years, but this has become my new favorite. It works faster than other brands I've used (Nature's Miracle and Just Rite) plus it has a much more pleasant smell while it is working. The bacteria/enzyme-based cleaners work so well because the bacteria break down the urine. The problem is that while that is happening, the smell can get worse (especially with Nature's Miracle). Simple Solution, on the other hand, is highly scented so that it covers up the smell while the bacteria are breaking it down. The scent is not great (think of a heavy-duty air freshener) but miles better than urine odor! The scent does dissipate so that the rug is left smelling pretty neutral once the process is complete. The bottle has an adjustable spray so you can use a narrow stream (for soaking deep into the carpet) or a wide spray (for covering larger areas). The key to getting this to work is to fully-saturate the urine area. Simple Solution has several variations of this product. I tried the regular strength, and the "extreme" version (this product) is worth the extra cost since it does work faster and you end up using less. They also make a dog-specific version of the Extreme. I don't know what the difference is between the cat and the dog versions (probably just marketing), and Simple Solution did not respond to my email asking for more info. Wish it was less expensive, but it certainly does the job, and does it well. Highly recommend.

This product is awesome. My 18 year old cat is suffering from some senior problems. One day, I discovered that she had a new problem, a leaky bladder while sleeping. Thankfully, she no longer has the problem. However, due to her leaky bladder my armchair had an area that stank of cat urine and it had seeped into the chair material.. I tried two different products designed for cat messes which I bought locally. At first they seemed to work, but soon the odor returned. I believe that they just covered the smell with a fragrance and didn’t get to the cause of the smell. I tried a home recipe, but that didn’t work either. I needed to “destroy” the odor producing chemicals. I went on-line, did my research and figured that I needed a biological treatment that would break down the odor causing chemical. As a result, I ordered the Simple Solution Cat Extreme stain and ordor remover. As soon as it arrived, I used it. Next day, I noticed that there was much less odor. I treated the armchair a second time. The odor was completely gone and has never returned. I now use this product for occasional cat accidents. It works great. In fact, I recommended it to friends who have indoor cats. I advise that anyone with an indoor cat keep a bottle of this product handy, in case of emergency.

I used an entire bottle in one area of my couch where the cat peed. Yes, slowly it’s eliminating the smell. Repeat applications are needed. And so far my cat has not peed in the same location again. The reason I’m buying a second bottle is that I now am certain it does not stain or discolor the fabric, which was a big concern about using the product. So safe for colored fabric, 5 stars. Effectiveness would be 4 stars. I’m fairly certain there is literally no product that 100% removes the smell of cat pee.

If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. And I have bought multiple multiple multiple cat sprays. I am telling you. I wish I could sum it up properly in words. But this stuff worked better than anything I have ever used in my entire life. My cat has a lot of anxiety and recently started spraying for some reason. I used every single type of spray known to man, including other enzymes, sprays, and they would never completely get rid of the smell. I honestly started to get a little depressed in anxious about it. Because I felt like my house was getting ruined and there was no way to undo the damage. This stuff worked literally almost instantly on contact and got rid of the stains and the smell 100%. It was nothing short of an answer to a prayer and I was getting desperate. My 2 story house now at this moment in time is finally smell free again and this product left me shocked.

Works and doesn't smell super strong like the other enzyme cleaners

Good product, does take a few applications to remove smell, so suggest 2 bottles if a big area, particularly if carpet or fabric
