Works as it should - nice bulb

I had to replace a Philips infrared bulb in my bathroom, which is used minimally when I want some extra heat stepping out of the shower. Phillips apparently doesn't make the red ones anymore, only clear. I like the red because I also turn it on sometimes for a very dim light not wanting to disturb my husband sleeping in the adjoining bedroom, and red light does a great job at both. This bulb I purchased has the same specs as the Philips. It gives off a brighter light and seems to spread through the room, but with less concentrated heat at the site of the bulb. I am surprised by the difference since it's the same wattage. If more and brighter light is what you want, and less of a spot then it will be a great. choice.

Spas charge $40 for 20 minutes to sit under this. For less than that you can live with it. I originally purchased it for a bathroom that didn't have any ventilation to reduce mold. It was effective for that but we really enjoyed the feelings of peace and tranquility it gave us. It also heated the bathroom so it was not cold when getting out of the shower. It lasted one year. I am purchasing our second one.

While heat lamps were big in the 60’s and 70’s, I made it a must in our new master bath. I’m not a slave to trends or fashion. If it will serve my purpose, I will buy it. Bathroom is decent size and, I’m always cold. This hits the target.

We bought this bulb based on a recommendation from the company we got our quails from. It arrived just before our quails did (March 27), but we didn’t install or use it until they arrived. It stopped working on May 8—less than two months of actual use. The metal base detached from the bulb and got stuck in the lamp socket. I had to use pliers to get it out. The bulb was securely installed and completely out of reach from the quails, so the failure wasn’t due to any outside force—it just came apart on its own. This bulb is supposed to handle consistent use, and it clearly didn’t. To make things worse, we missed the return window by less than two weeks, so we’re out of luck and out of money. Would not recommend.

Seems like a red coating makes the light very red but it doesn't seem like any more heat than a white bulb of the same wattage.
