It is set to Blu-ray zone A and DVD region 1. Says so on the box. I just tonight bought a DP-UB820 from a local USA big name retailer. They were gracious enough to let me test a Doctor Who region free 50i Blu-ray purchased from the UK in the player to make sure it played. That sold me. Getting it home, it would not play R2 DVDs at all (gives a region error) and would just stop playing zone B Blu-rays. These were the Studio Canal Blu-rays of Dr. Who and the Daleks and Dalek Invassion Earth 2150 AF. After reading C Jay's post, I tried his hack on the Dalek Blu-rays and it worked with one modification. In their case, I waited for the front display to show "STOP". Then in pressed "Top Menu" twice like he said and, in a few seconds, the front menu screen appeared. The hack did not work for the R2 DVDs after trying several variations of C Jay hack. But, you know how you sometimes have to sit through many screens of annoying logos until the main menu appears? C Jay's hack works for that on region A Blu-rays! Simply let the first screen appear and press stop and let the disc stop spinning. Then press "Top Menu" twice and after a few seconds, the main menu appears!!!

Can this play dvd-a or dvd-audio discs?

DVD-Audio discs should have Dolby tracks that are playable on nearly all DVD-Video players. The "nearly" is probably included in claims in case a Beavis-and-Butthead-managed factory sets up shop. It's the Meridian Lossless Packing that's playable on high-end players. Some discs also have DTS tracks. I would be very surprised if they don't play at all. They may not sound much better than 5.1-channel, 16-bit with 48-kHz sampling, but they should play. If one of you finds that they don't, please let me know.

Do i need two hdmi ports on my tv, one for audio & one for video? i only have one hdmi port available.

Bought it at ₹59,900 including import fee from Game.store.

I bought this on 13 January 2025 from Game.store for ₹59,900 that too imported unit. How the hell Apna America is selling it for more than ₹1,00,000? Anyways, it's working absolutely fine. No disc skipping, no problem in playing 4K Blu Rays, Blu Rays and DVDs aswell. As I have bought it at ₹59,900, it's worth buying for me. But at more than ₹1,00,000, I will suggest buy Sony X700 or LG UBK90. Giving 5 star to player and Game.store from whom bought it at ₹59,900 including import fee.

Technically "Best In Class"

Product: 10/10 Quality. Simply technically "Best In Class". Pairing brilliantly with LG C5 OLED and Denon AVR. No Issues with stuttering, skipping etc. Played all the Blu Ray Discs from Amazon fine as well. Most of what I have are "Country of Origin Austria" Unit safely packed shipped, Remote included. Bit overpriced (Canadian Import). 120V Rated 31W Double check description on Amazon website vs What is being shipped Vs Seller's communications.

The best Blu-ray player one can buy

This is arguably one of the best Blu-ray players out there. Its a bit overpriced with importing it, but its worth it.

PS5 cannot replace this, its holy grail for HT enthusiast.

For anyone saying, you can get PS5 for 45k and it will play everything that this BRUray does. They actually don't know what quality of playback means. PS5 is not even half good in palying bluray then this. Must buy for HT enthusiast.
