Q: Is there anyway to get it to reconnect to wifi? It seems if it loses the wifi connection for any reason it won't reconnect unless I power cycle it.

Its reconnect automatically, maybe is the router/AP or wifi signal quality.

Q: to reset my cable modem by removing power and let it come back on, can this unit complete a momentary cycle without internet connection?

You must have wifi for this to work with Google or Amazon or Native app. With out internet or an application you just have a on/ off switch

If you remotely access it and send command once the command is received it will activate command.

it already has its own integrated wifi an additional antenna is not possible, its not designed for it
