It works great, but It has quite a few cosmetic imperfections
Works great for intended use, but there are quite a few cosmetic issues but I don’t really mind as I’m not going to put it on display or anything. One thing that was weird though was I never recieved the stone, just the axe and leather cover.

Zero attention to detail - there are better axes out there
I bought this axe for splitting kindling and limbing felled trees - it seems solid enough for those tasks. However, the fit and finish for this axe leave A LOT to be desired. The handle feels like it was sanded with a roofing shingle... in fact, a shingle might be smoother than this handle. The handle is also either stained or dyed - which wouldn't be terrible if it looked consistently applied. But it is terrible. The axe head is coated with some sort of film to prevent corrosion - not a bad thing, right? In this case the head looks like the coating was applied haphazardly with a rat-chewed chip brush and no one checked for even coverage. The head is kept in place with both a wooden wedge and a circular steel insert. The head seems solid enough.... however, there was zero attention to making the handle, wedge, and ring flush with the top of the axe head.

Solid and well built it appears but have not yet put it to the test.
Axe is Solid and well built. The puck is not very good but for free it's great.

Poor quality hatchet
In short, this axe is a safety risk with poor quality materials and assembly. At length, after receiving the package in the mail, opening it up, and examining the hatchet I noted some of my first impressions. The axe arrived about as sharpened as a butter knife. When I went to the garage to sharpen it, the axe head didn’t take an edge when filed. The steel was clearly soft, and more likely than not untempered. This makes the axe nothing more than a decoration to axe users. This also definitely makes the axe dangerous to beginners who know little about safety when using a hatchet. To anyone interested in buying an axe, most Finnish and Swedish axe come sharpened. Sharpened well enough to shave hair off the arm. This speaks to the lack of quality that Nedfoss has put into this line of small axes.Moving onto the handle, at the top of the axe, where the eye is, the German wedge locking the handle in place was poorly finished. The handle was clearly spray painted. I don’t like this for a few reasons. Blistering hands with any extended use. It also speaks to poor quality wood.Looking at the grain of the wood at the bottom of the handle the wood was horizontal to the axe head. This axe would fail any safety testing before going into the field with any state and national foresters in America. For the designers of this axe, make sure your sawyers know what a quarter cut is before setting the handles on the axe heads. In conclusion the axe is a NO BUY ITEM. I did my best to offer clear critique of the axe and was honest. It is a shame, because it looks like the hickory handled axe might be tempered steel, but with so many problems with the first hatchet I won’t be buying another Nedfoss product.I’ll turn the hatchet into scraps and make other tools with it over the winter.

Loose handle out of box...
1. Loose handle out of box. Note that handle is too small (short) for head size/weight.2. Handle crooked and not centered; the round metal wedge actually touching side of head; subsequently; cracked and broken wood wedge and handle top.3. Since I already have an extra handle...decided to keep as project and temporally secured handle by adding a bit of wood glue and 2 extra small metal wedges. Fully expect junk handle to break with very little use...
