RAM Mounts GPS RAM-B-238U Diamond Ball Base with B Size 1" Ball

Works great. Installs easy enough, heavy duty, and has been going strong in my truck for about 2-3 years now, no issues.

Pretty cool mount. The ball has a type of rubber coating over aluminum. I use Ram mounts on my motorcycles and boat. Never had an issue with them and some are almost 10 years old

1" ball & base pretty much sums it up, but the ball is rubberized so it grips better than just a plastic ball and the base is a standard to fit with the distance between mounting holes. But in this case the base is too big so it gets cut to fit this special application. There's a hole in the bottom-center that will accept a 1/4" bolt to give it extra strength against the torque of rotation and it gets epoxied into place after being tapped for 1/4-20. I got 2 of these and each will go into a hollow hand, the ball fitting into a socket on the forearm to finish the articulation of each arm (the elbow joint is a 2" ball for strength). I could make these, but when they're so easily available and a standard dimension with such quality, it saves a lot of effort. This is the most inexpensive of the RAM parts but worth more to me for the ease of use.

I added this RAM Diamond Ball Base to my existing RAM mounting system to create a more flexible mounting point for electronics and accessories, and it’s performed exactly as I hoped. This base features a 1″ diameter “B-size” rubber ball mounted on a diamond-pattern plate that’s roughly 2.43″ × 1.31″, with two holes spaced on the industry-standard AMPS pattern (1.912″ apart) — so it mates easily with a wide range of RAM cradles, arms, and adapters. Once installed, this base provides a stable yet highly adjustable pivot point. The rubber ball technology lets you configure the angle of whatever you’re mounting — whether it’s a GPS, camera, or small display — while still locking securely in place once tightened. It’s a simple part, but it’s surprisingly versatile in how many setups it can support. The build quality feels solid and durable. The aluminum base plate has good rigidity, and the rubber ball holds up well under normal use without noticeable wear or deformation. The pre-drilled holes lined up perfectly with other RAM components I already had, so assembly was quick and predictable. Because it’s compatible with standard RAM mounting hardware and third-party accessories, this ball base expands what your system can do without requiring extra adapters or modifications. It’s especially useful if you’re building a custom solution for mounting devices in vehicles, boats, or even workshop spaces. Overall, this is a solid, dependable mounting base that adds flexibility and strength to any RAM setup. Whether you’re upgrading an existing system or building a new one, it’s a great foundational component.

Great mount, works as advertised and all that. However, this mount did not come with mounting hardware! So, I headed down to my local auto supply shop and got a couple of self tapping #8 x3/4" screws ($1.39), slapped a strip of 3M double sided tape (already on hand) on the back of the mount, heated it up a bit with a heat gun and stuck it to my dashboard of my Ram 1500 just left of the central air vent and right of the instrument cluster. The trim is just wide enough to accommodate the mount. Using the two self tapping screws, and the 3M tape, I was able to nicely place the mount, which has enough clearance with the four inch Ram Mount bar to clear the top of the steering wheel with no obstruction of the driver's view. Of course there are other mounting options which do not include drilling into the dash of your vehicle, but C'est la vie. The mount so far is great and compatible with all other 1" Ram mount bars and accessories.

Always excellent products. And manufacturer stands behind product. Bought this to replace one that broke as I didn’t want to wait for RMA etc. well, RAM had my replacement not long after I received this new one and installed it.

no me encanta que sea de plastico porque ya he tenido la mala suerte de tener soporte de esta marca que se me rompen pero lo quiero para un soporte spot que si o si usa es base y ni modo.
