Works great, preheat for at least 3 minutes. If you can’t get all the solder out of the pin holes I added solder into the gun itself until it was covering the nozzle hole. Then I applied it to the pin with Flux and it would clean the stubborn solder off. Easy to use one handed and beats using desoldering wick hands down.

I had a solenoid version desoldering pump previously. It finally kicked the bucket on me. I bought this manual heated pump because it was cheap and in hopes that it would outlast of mechanical one. So far, it works great.

This YiHua desoldering iron is a pretty solid tool. It's super easy to use and heats up quickly, melting solder in a flash. The metal tip is a big improvement over those teflon ones that always seem to burn or melt. Plus, it's easy to clean and doesn't clog up easily. For it's current price point, it's a good middle-ground option between those cheap solder suckers and the pricier desoldering guns.Now, here's the thing: it works way better than those manual solder suckers, but it doesn't have the super-powerful suction I was hoping for. For components with two leads, it usually gets the solder out in one go. But sometimes it takes a few tries, even with through-hole contacts.With bigger components, like transistors or capacitors, you'll probably need to do several cycles of melting and sucking to get all the solder out. Holding it on the joint for longer helps melt the solder thoroughly, but be careful not to overheat the component.I didn't have any issues with the tip fitting over different sized leads, from tiny resistors to larger transistors and capacitors. It works best on two-lead components because the leads can move freely as the solder melts. With three-lead components, it's a bit trickier.Overall, this tool is definitely a step up from a basic solder sucker, but don't expect the same vaccum as one one a complete rework station. The only reason NOT to buy this is because you're getting an automatic one at 5x the price. I've been using a solder sucker for years. Routine. Heat the solder pad, try to get the solder sucker onto the pad before it cools. Melt the tip on the solder sucker. Won't come out? Add more solder and repeat.But I saw this and said "gotta try it". Just too easy. Tip melts the solder, plunger sucks it out. Periodically clean out the accumulated solder. SO much easier/faster/trouble free - minimizes lifted traces. Often leaves a nice clean thru hole, ready to put a new component in. If you can spring for the cost, I'm sure the electric suckers are even better, but this is REALLY good.

I have found that there is often no substitute for a heated solder sucking device such at the Yihua unit.Heat output is very good, even for melting and removing larger solder blobs. If removing solder from very fine or extremely heat sensitive devices, there are outboard, plug-in adjustable power reduction devices, similar to light dimmers, that can be used to reduce the tip temperature of the desoldering unit as needed. Also, having a removable, replaceable tip is a definite advantage.The solder sucker portion is easily removed from the heating section of the iron and emptied. Invest in some silicon oil to keep the O-ring and inside barrel of the solder sucker lubricated. This will optimize the sucking action of the unit by reducing internal friction, and it will greatly extend its useful life.As other reviews have mentioned, the Yihua Desoldering Iron puts out a notable quantity of smoke when it is first powered up. Place it outside in non-flammable surroundings when first powering it up for ten minutes or so or until the unit no longer smokes (and don't breathe in the smoke, just to be safe). Once this is done, the unit should no longer smoke when you plug it in, later.The Yihua 9290-V Desoldering Iron has been working well for me. Recommended.

Bought this because I needed to desolder a chip from an old classic NES game and soldering wick wasn't going to get the job done. This tool made the job painless and was incredibly easy to use.

I tried to remove a mouse switch for the first time and it was such a difficult time. Found this and it made the job so much easier. What was a 15 minute removal turned into less than a minute. It will save you so much time on component removal.The handle is plastic and I noticed I could rotate the plunger rather easily into a position that conflicted with said handle.It's not the highest quality, but it has great value in my opinion
