A very satisfying utility knife
I have a number of knives (spydercos, etc); something of a knife problem, like many of the reviewers on this thread reviewing this knife. This is my favorite, and my EDC. Specifically, I enjoy using it more than a spyderco Manix which used to be my EDC, and als more than other Ganzos I have (e.g. the G7412, and G7392). Pros: its really solid, and aesthetically it appeals to me--I grin when using it. It IS big and heavy, which I find satisfying. Another HUGE plus is the deep-carry pocket clip, so that when it is in my pocket, it doesnt stick out, and is not obtrusive. What's more, because it is clipped on the pocket edge and not sitting at the bottom of the pocket, I dont feel it when walking, even though it is heavy/big. If I had it sitting at the bottom of my pocket, it would indeed be too big/heavy. So, I find it very comfortable, probably why it is my sole EDC knife--whenever I go to one of my others, I remember that their clip ends up having the knife sticking out of the pocket a bit, which makes me uncomfortable as others sometimes react. I don't know if it is indeed 440C or not, but it takes a very nice edge, and holds it reasonably. A few passes on the sypderco sharpmaker get it back to shaving sharp. I find the lockup great. Quite solid. I've never had it fail (have been using knife everyday for ~ 2 months). Finish is good; blade is well centered. The handle G10 is grippy and comfortable. I've beaten on the knife (hacking through vines, small tree trunks, etc. in the garden); things that I would never consider doing with a more expensive knife. The weight of the knife makes such endeavors very satisfying, and it has held up well to the abuse. I bought a second as a back up, in case I finally do destroy it, though no evidence of problems so far. The knife is a steal at this price. Cons: It is heavy, if that bothers you. It is a copy of a lionsteel knife costing more, so there is potentially a moral issue there, though I would never have purchased a $180 lionsteel, so that doesnt bother me much. The lock is a bit stiff when originally purchased. Put a bit of teflon-type lubricant into the blade pivot, and things loosen up a lot. After a bit of use, its great. The 'stiff lock' issue isnt really a big deal, only an obstacle to playing with the knife (i.e. using a flick to open blade in conjunction with Axis lock; opening the blade using the thumb studs is easy even out of the box). The texture of the G10 handle does make it slower to get out of a tight pocket. Makes sure you wont lose it, but could be bad if you're focused on self defense. Overall, this is likely a lousy self-defense blade--it is too wide, and not 'pointy' enough. So, that might be an issue for some. Con

Haters are going to hate.
People that dismiss Chinese products as crap are, simply put, missing out and have delusions of grandeur. As previous posters have mentioned, the people that would dismiss this knife because it was made in China, for sure own plenty of Chinese made products but they're not knives. They're their shoes, TVs, phones or basically put probably over 50% of their electronics. To put my experience in perspective, I've been carrying knives for 30+ years, use them daily and have a fair collection as you can imagine. Yep, my collection includes the usual "classics" from Spyderco, Kershaw, CRKT and Benchmade but I never settle and keep buying more. I do not discriminate by price, make or country of origin. I try not to buy crap, sometimes I do but this time but I didn't this time. So with that said, on to the knife. $15 is what this cost me and I couldn't be more pleased. One thing about this knife that is instantly noticeable is that it's heavy. Like really heavy but not without good reason. No, the liners aren't milled but that's not it. No, american materials aren't lighter, that's not it either. What it is, is the huge chunk of 440c in place of a regular folders blade. This is by far the thickest blade I've seen on any folder of this size and it's fantastic. It fairly obvious once you pick it up and handle it, this thing can take a beating (there's plenty of online abuse reviews on it already to prove this). The scales on the knife are great. They provide excellent grip due to the relief and the fact the handle is really wide to hide the aforementioned behemoth blade. The gimping on the spine helps contribute to a solid grip too. The ramp where the gimping is could be a little more aggressive but it's really close to being spot on. As far as lockup goes there's zero movement and there wasn't when i got it. However, this is one thing I've learned about Ganzo's. They need tuned (fiddled / messed with). If you don't do it right you're probably going to get lateral movement. If you don't do it at all the axis lock springs are way too tight and deployment is going to be stiff. To do this, make sure you have a T6, T8 and blue locktite, then look up what to do online if you can't figure it out (really simple stuff). The clip. I like the clip itself, it's substantial, sturdy and deep carry. Right handed, point up is the way all my knives are configured and the G720 comes configured in that manner. However, you cannot change this due to the glass breaker and the need for some odd 4 pin tool that I don't own. So for me, it's not a big deal but I can see this being an issue for others. Before picking up a few (6) Ganzos lately - I'm fairly new to them. I had never had a knife in 440C and now I cannot think of a reason why more people don't use it for budget line knives. It takes and edge really well and seem to out last AUS8 and 8Cr13MoV as far as retention goes. Don't get me wrong, I haven't sat there with cardboard and "cut test" the thing, that's just not me but I've noticed over my cheaper domestics (some of the spydercos and kershaws are made in china though) it really does hold an edge longer. This really is a no brainier if you need a larger folder for heavy use - a great work or truck knife (esp with the glass breaker). It's not going to make a lot of people happy for EDC, it's a little large and heavy for that. Like playing with knives? Something about the weight of the blade make this knife really fun to flick open and let fall close. When not in use it lives on my desk at home and is used as a stress ball. Make sure you 'tune' the thing first though, otherwise it'll make you miserable and thumbs hurt. For $15 and 5 minutes of your time though, it's oh so satisfying.

BUBBA SAY IT BE GOOD….BUY IT
So first this item. This writer has been purchasing high end name brand production knives – as well as a few custom order jobs now and then – longer than most of you little commie pinko socialist bed wetters have been alive. (Just kidding. Most of you are not bed wetters. Yet.) And I’ve lost and misplaced (or had confiscated) more $100 to $150 pocket knives than most of you miscreants will ever buy. So there’s my street cred for what I am about to say. Regarding this Orange Handled Ganzo G720 Folding Knife which I done bought for $21.45 and free shipping with Amazon Prime: if this bad boy is representative of what’s coming off the production line every day, then I gotta say I’m impressed. It has to rank up there in the Top 5 of the best folding knives you can buy for $27 bucks. Made with good materials not junk and with the blade being a non-fancy but very serviceable stainless steel (takes a decent edge) that will no doubt outlive me, this big brawny knife feels good in the hand, opens easy, cuts real good and locks up tight. No play in that blade when open. Also, the axis lock used on this knife is pretty dang good for a knife at this price point. The grippy ribs on the handles are a good touch. Gives the holder a firm grip, even when wet I’ll wager. As an outdoor knife this thing will do just about anything you want it to and it’s made well enough so that - when the day comes ya’ll cast off yer mortal coil and you end up deader than dead (goin’ off to meet Jesus) - you’ll be able to pass the knife down to your kids who’ll then be able to pass it down to their kids. Not bad for $27 bucks. I’ve paid more money in the past for knives that weren’t this good. (Which also proves I ain’t the brightest bulb on any string.) Gotta hand it to the factory folks in China. They have seriously upped their game in recent years in terms of putting out quality product when it comes to blades. So hell yeah it’s a keeper. Bubba say buy two. One fer you and one fer sister Sue. Over and out scout.

These are amazing for the price
These are amazing for the price. They're not as refined as the knives they're copying, and yes, they're blatant copies (in some instances) of higher end knives, but made with minor differences (they LOVE to put their version of the Benchmade axis lock on pretty much every knife they offer, with a few exceptions...even if the knife they're copying doesn't have it), but I have to give them credit where credit is due. First, the knives are NOT shoddy knock offs. They're made with 440C metal which has proven to be a solid "user" metal in the knives I've purchased from them (about 9, at this point in time), while also being easy to sharpen when they dull (And most of them have come "hair popping" sharp, straight out of the box", so far). Many people are dismissive of the Chinese 440C "mystery metal", but I've handed several of the ones I've bought out to friends and family to use, and report back on, and one has gone for a month of regular daily use and abuse, and is STILL shaving sharp, having had absolutely nothing done to touch the edge up. I explicitly requested that they not sharpen the knives, or go easy on them, so that I could determine the durability of them. So far, they've done quite well. Sometimes they're a little difficult to "break in", making one-handed opening awkward on some of them, but otherwise, they've been quite good. And, as far as being copies of higher end knives, each and every one that I've purchased so far has blatantly and boldly said "Ganzo" on the blade, leaving absolutely no chance that these could be considered "fakes" or be passed off as the "real thing". They aren't trying to make money off the blades they're copying, they're simply cherry picking the aspects people like about higher end knives and using them on their products. I'm not saying this is a fair practice, but at least they're being honest about what they're doing. And, quite frankly, I have no problems with it. If I spend $200+ on a knife, I'm absolutely not going to use it as I would a $20> knife. So this provides a useable alternative, while mimicking the attractive aspects of higher end knives. Many people will complain about buying these over American-made originals, but those companies have the option of making more affordable "user" models of their high-end flagships, as well, but they choose not to. Until they do, I will continue to purchase knives such as these, to use and abuse, without doing the same to my pocketbook.

Bought as throw away knife and is now my EDC knife, Amazing pocket knife but also chunky.
I dont like to buy knives from brands I've never heard of but, I was looking for a cool kinda throw away knife just for fishing or keeping in the car so I searched and saw the brand GANZO. I've never heard of the brand or heard anyone who is knife savvy mention it so I had low expectations however, this has become one of the best knives I bought under the $50 price range. $23 well spent for sure and an amazing knife, Its not perfect if your a knife critic but I would expect the price of this knife around $50. It should be noted that this knife is quite chunky in hand but it holds its edge very well and came out of box with a great edge. The axis lock is wonderful but you need to play with it a bit to loosen it up some and its chunky like I said, those are about the only complaints I can come up with honestly. I've had the knife for 3 weeks now and have been using it for fishing, cutting down boxes, cutting small pieces of wood and branches, and even used it as a mini pry bar (not what its ment for at all btw) and it still has its edge with NO blade play at all. It has become my new edc knife, I absolutely recommend this knife for just about anything aside from small knife users (you WILL know when you're carrying this thing) and even picky knife users should have a lot of pleasure from adding this to their collection. 5/5 for a knife I had no faith in but was astonishingly surprised by.

One of my favorites
Good knife. I like Ganzo's 440C. Better than what Case puts out. Well built, solid. Nice satin finish on the blade. Good heft.

Great heavy duty knife for the price
This is a great value for the price. It's an imitation of the Lionsteel SR-1. I actually bought this along with the Ganzo 710 because I wanted to test the axis lock (I'm a Cold Steel triad lock fan) but I didn't want to pay the Benchmade premium price. Verdict: I love the axis lock for what it is. That means it's not anywhere near as strong as the CS triad lock. Not even close. However, it has an advantage - this knife swings closed so quickly and easily one-handed, it has a lot of utility if you're constantly using your blade to open boxes or anything else. With a CS blade, closing it one-handed is a 2 step process - you have to press the lock with your thumb and keep your index finger in the groove to stop the blade from chopping off your fingers. With this axis lock, all you have to do is get your fingers out of the way, pull the axis lock down on both sides and, with a flick of your wrist, the blade closes in one motion. This blade has a drop point with a super thick and strong spine (4mm) and a high hollow grind. The blade is not particularly good for piercing due to the thick spine and blade shape, but this is a knife meant more for heavy duty use anyway and I don't mind the lack of piercing capability on this one so much. One thing I like about this blade much more than the Ganzo 710 - if you have your index finger all the way forward in the handle and the blade drops, there is a big enough choil in the blade that it will not cut into your finger. This is not the case on the 710 - if that blade closes even when your index finger is all the way forward in the grip, it will cut into your finger. This is a huge difference for me, as I'm always concerned about finger safety just in case the blade accidentally closes, and I like this feature on this knife. I like the Ganzo 710 for its piercing capability though. Both of these knives have their advantages and disadvantages, and I like them both. The steel is 440C, middle grade stainless, but I like it because of the corrosion resistance, and it sharpens easily. Corrosion resistance on this steel is better than AUS8 - I have blades in both steels, and while my AUS8 developed rust spots, this one has not. Keep in mind - this knife is not a replacement for the tactical value of a CS folder, which has the strongest lockup of any folder I've ever used, but - this axis lock definitely has its advantages if you're using your blade a lot and like closing it quickly one-handed. 5 stars for the $20 price tag. Keep in mind, the pivot screw comes loose if you're constantly playing with the knife - easy fix - apply some blue Loctite on the pivot screws and problem solved.

Robust, Sharp and heavy. I like it
Let me just say that I collect knives. I have about 50 high-end knives and about 20 budget knives. I'm a huge fan of ColdSteel and Spyderco. I trust my life to them! I bought this Ganzo to be my at work Beater. It's WAY to early for me to say if it's going to last but I can comment on the initial quality. The G-720 came sharp, felt like Gerber sharp. It's big too and a tad on the heavy side but to me that's positive attributes. The Lockup is solid and it feels real good in hand. The fit is perfect, the ergonomics are well designed. For the price, you get an Axis lock which I prefer over Liner locks. I gave the knife some shots to the spine, the lock seems to hold. DO I trust my life on this knife? Not yet. But for the price it has proven so far to be a great EDC blade. I keep waiting on the bottom to drop but it hasn't let me down. I hope she lasts because she is a good looking and feeling knife.
