Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt with Camelot Trim Satin Nickel (BE479 CAM 619), Compatible with Alexa

Took quite a bit of extra work installing in an aluminum frame and glass door. Needed many extra tools to cut the metal. Schlage offered nothing on working with metal doors. But once installed it works really well and looks very smart.Downside. Amazon Australia website advertised a separate plug in unit for a big extra price but said it was needed to get full wi fi phone control of the lock. I paid the extra as a separate order. Very high delivery cost because as it turns out it had to come from the USA. Thu unit when it arrived is no use. USA plugs and rated to only 110 volts. seems it is not available in a 240 volt version. So no wi-fi which was advertised as a feature by Amazon Australia and why i chose this lock over others.

This lock was easy to install .But first it needed an update before it could be programmed and it was extremely hard to accomplish. Took several tries before it finally connected and updated. Then had a terrible time to get the lock to connect with the phone. I bought it because I wanted to use it with the apple app . This took several tries and endless frustration before it would finally connect and work. It took over 6 hours after installing to get the lock to work. So far it’s doing what it was suppose to do so I gave it 2 stars .Amendment. I have been using the lock for several weeks now and I find it is performing well. My only advisement is that the background on the pad is light coloured and so the numbers don’t show up very well . A dark background would be a great improvement.

After hours of online research, I chose this Schlage electronic lock. I'm sure that it's an excellent lock but the one thing I did not check is that it will physically fit in the available space on my door. Oops. Do yourself a favour and if you have a door with decorative features around the existing lock, measure before purchasing any lock. Sadly, I will be returning this one.

I have been using 2 of these since 3 years. I changed the battery in January 2018, still no alarm or message for weak battery. Surprising. They say the 4 batteries (standard 1,5V) work one year but mine will be going on for 2 years! Phone Schlage software is good except if it is not used for sometime, it ask you to log again, I find this extremely bothering. (so do not forget your password) I did not register, since they have access through your account to your access codes, you should not register or let them know where and at which address this lock has been used. Security breach - remember there are hackers working everywhere. I have been using it with Bluetooth. That would ensure some safety. Just recently I bought the wifi module to be able to program from distance. Ideal if you do AirBnB and change codes frequently. I have not yet installed it. Worried about security issues if locks can be accessed through the internet.

The lock is very well constructed... Heavy duty, and on my door easy to install without any fiddling with the strike plate to make it function - unlike similar but cheaper locks. The online installation videos are fantastic.My main beef involves connectivity. It's pathetic that a lock costing as much as this will not interface with a standard wi-fi router. The consumer is required to purchase separate Schlage hardware in order to take advantage of remote features such as locking/unlocking and changing user codes. I installed the lock on a cottage that we're planning to rent as an AirB&B and need these features so that we're not needing to be on site before or after every renter. I recently installed a $70 wi-fi outdoor camera and was able to interface it with our router in five minutes. Schlage won't be winning over many fans with this product. Don't be reeled in by the description. It's not what Schlage claims it to be.
