So beautiful!!
Heres some before and after photos!! I mixed one of these with a thing of rock n roll red, and it turned out so good!!! Didnt stain my shower, only a little on my sink (which was my fault lol). I left my mixture on for about 3 hours and my hair isnt fried or anything. Highly recommend!!!

Vampire red over old semi-perm blue, no bleach!
For some unknown reason, I thought it would be fun to dye my hair two shades of blue for the Fourth of July trip we were planning to take to South Padre. As you can expect it did not go well and I could not get rid of it!!! Color oops would not work, and I tried clarifying shampoo after clarifying shampoo. I didn’t want to put bleach in it so I thought thought well. I will just try to go over it with red since that is the color I typically dye my hair anyway. To my surprise, it colored the ugly blue, although it did make a bit of an ombré as it got darker toward the middle and end, so it almost looks black. Nonetheless I’m glad it is not blue so I am perfectly fine with it. No bleach, just 2 bottles of straight vampire red. I did cover it with two Walmart bags while it processed and fell asleep in it. Nothing happened. It actually seemed to make it softer. I will say that this was a month ago and it is still bleeding red to this day in my shower, so keep that in mind! Lol I don’t care because I am so glad it is no longer blue!!!! I hope my review was able to help you make your decision, have a great day!!!

Worked surprisingly well on unbleached/undyed medium brown hair
I used this product on my daughter's medium brown, unbleached/undyed hair. Most hair color charts place her natural hair color as a level 5. She really wanted her hair to be the same magenta/fuschia color as the character she wanted to be for Halloween (Mal from Disney's Descendants 2, hair is more pink in this movie, where it was purple in the first). I did quite a bit of research first, and chose this based on reviews and photos from other customers. The Manic Panic website also recommended the Hot Hot Pink (and a few others) for unbleached hair as opposed to other colors, so I would stay with their recommendations. I was worried that the color wouldn't show up at all in her hair, and she hates the spray on hair color (which may wash out, but is full of aerosolized chemicals, and I don't like my kids inhaling that stuff). This item had no chemical smell at all. My daughter's hair is typically more towards the oily side (as much as it can be for an 8 year old, for an adult, it would be considered neither oily nor dry). However, she spent a considerable amount of time in the pool this summer, which did dry out the length of her hair somewhat. This may have allowed the dye to penetrate better, despite this being months ago. The dye did seem to adhere just as well to the roots. I rinsed her hair with diluted apple cider vinegar first, while it was still dry, and rinsed well. Then I blow-dried it completely. After thoroughly coating her hair with it, I blow-dried her hair again for about five minutes, put it in a plastic cap, and left it on for a little over 2 hours. I put a towel over the cap as well to keep in heat, and blow-dried it again for another five minutes before rinsing. I had no issues with rinsing it in the shower... it did not turn her back pink while rinsing. I used vaseline around her hairline and had no problems with staining. Since then, there has been the usual issues of staining of pillow cases (and also her forehead, which has acquired a pink tint in the past few days because she has bangs. Nothing worse than expected. The color is still the same a week later (which surprises me, I now wonder if she'll have pinkish hair at Christmas, because I expected at least a little fading within days). When her hair was first rinsed, I worried at first that the color didn't take. But when I started drying it, I was astonished. Because her hair was darker, the hot hot pink color showed up almost the exact same fuschia color as the character's. My daughter was thrilled, and while the process probably took about 3 hours plus, I didn't have to spray her hair full of noxious smelling spray, which I'd have had to wash out on Halloween night when we were both exhausted, and she is just beside herself. Her school has no dress code issues with hair colors, so I don't have to worry about that being an issue. It's incredible that this showed up with her hair being darker. I would buy this product again.

Hot Hot Pink
I have dirty blonde/ dark blonde hair naturally, so I didn't bleach my hair at all. I also only dyed the bottom 6-8 inches of my very long straight hair, going for a ombre look. First of all, the bottle doesn't look like the tub in the photo, it's more of a bottle. I believe it is still 4 ounces though. I have never dyed my hair or anything like that, so the first time I was nervous. First of all - USE GLOVES. I braided my hair in sections and applied the dye to my hair ends with my hand, working through the locks of hair to make sure to get it on most of the hair. I wasn't super picky and wanted a more fluid/ gradient look, but that would be different if you were doing your whole head. After the first application of about 6 inches worth of my kind of thin hair, I had used up maybe 1/5th of the bottle. After reading other reviews and watching some video reviews on youtube, I decided to let it sit in my hair for about 4 hours. Then I rinsed it really well in the sink. IT WAS REALLY BRIGHT! I loved it! I don't wash my hair every day, probably every 3 days, and it started fading noticeably after 1.5 - 2 weeks. The second time I dyed it, I did the same process, only I left the dye in overnight. The third time it was in for almost 24 hours (this was two days ago, my hair is totally fine). I don't think leaving it in longer makes it more bright, but I think it makes the staying power MUCH longer. After the second application it was probably like 75% gone after 3 weeks (of washing 2x a week). Keep in mind I have unbleached, virgin hair. One thing I want to mention is that the manic panic is VERY conditioning! It's great, it definitely doesn't wreck your hair at all. Also, lots of reviews mention the mess... Maybe it's different because only the bottom half of my hair is dyed, or maybe people aren't rinsing it thoroughly, but I have not had a problem with dyed towels, sheets, clothes, etc. As for the shower/ sink, it will get it s bit pink, but if you do a cursory clean right after you are done rinsing (I simply wipe it with a baby wipe), all the dye comes off. All in all, I would recommend this product, although I have nothing to compare it to. I didn't give 5 stars because I wish it would stay just a bit longer, a month maybe?

Very bright and beautiful if you put it on platinum hair

Not worth the cost.
I bought three colors of the amplified dye: bad boy blue, cotton candy pink, and ultraviolet. I've been using the classic dye pretty regularly since covid hit, and I was at home more than anything else and had no one to impress. I was hoping that since the amplified is supposed to have more color pigment, that it would either last longer, or be more vibrant. Sadly, neither seems to have been the case. First to address how easy it is to use. The little squeeze bottles tended it to make a mess and I ended up wearing as much of the dye as ended up in my hair. The jars that the classic color come in are definitely easier to use, especially if you're using a dying brush. As for longevity, I dyed my hair a week ago, and I'm already considering having to redo it. The pink was by far the worst, as it has completely faded from my hair and left it a sort of sad gray color. The blue really didn't take to my hair very well, but it at least turned a nice denim color. Unfortunately it has already started to fade in spots as well. The ultraviolet has stayed better than either of the other two, but I can already see where it is fading as well. I would be willing to say that perhaps it is an issue with the color choices because I have never used bad boy blue or cotton candy pink before, but ultraviolet is perhaps my favorite color offered by manic panic and I use it fairly religiously, so I know that it should have stayed vibrant longer than a week. I stick faithfully to the manic panic brand of dye because it tends to stay vibrant longer than any other brand I have tried to use. Overall, I will not be buying the amplified die again, because it is certainly not worth the extra cost. My advice is to find the color you like in the classic dye, and stick with it. It stays longer, and is cheaper. One star, because it wouldn't let me put zero.

Did the formula change?
I have been bleaching and dyeing my own hair for roughly 23 years. There's been good times and there have been bad times, but I have used a ton of Manic Panic in every color over the years, and never had an issue like I did with Electric Amethyst (Amplified). My head had been bald so I left my hair grow a little bit, then bleached my virgin hair to a very pale yellow. Upon applying the dye, I noticed that when it got on my scalp (I have my hair at the top of my head, all around it shaved) and wiped it off, it left nothing behind. Like NOTHING. No hint of stain on my skin. I thought that was weird, but what I thought was even weirder was that as I put it on my hair I could see that it was looking like different colors. The front of my head is legit purple and the back is like a pale blue. Again, I understand bleaching and all of the hair was bleached to the same level and in the same exact shape. So, while it isn't embarrassing to walk around with, it does look like I didn't know what I was doing, when in fact, I think the dye formula has changed. The state of my hair doesn't have anything to with the fact that it didn't even stain my skin. I dunno - I love you, Manic Panic, I do. But, this was lame. I am disappoint.

My new favorite brand!
Short version: I love this dye, and plan on still buying it from now on! It's pigmented for a while and needs to wash out a bit, as it does bleed for the first 2 washes. It makes me hair feel smooth and nice, no damaging at all! Overall, very nice! Long version: I don't really know WHY so many people were saying the color didn't stick in their hair... It sure did for me! I will say though, it was VERY pigmented for the longest time. I've been dyeing my hair for almost 2 years, so I relatively know what I'm doing and how to treat my hair after a fresh dye. Even after washing it as needed right after dying my hair, it was bleeding SO MUCH. It was all over the back of my neck and even got on my face when I fell asleep on my hair. I ended up having to wash my hair a couple more times a couple days after dying to get all the pigment out of it. As for people saying blue was everywhere in their shower, to me, that's always been a normal thing for semi-permanent hairdye. It, indeed, was blue everywhere, but it rinses off the shower walls very easy with some hot water. Never had a problem with it. Another big reason why the blue washes out of MY hair is because my hair is pretty bleached from over bleaching it months ago, and I only mention that because it caused my hair to not want to hold in any color. Even with this issue for me, after a few washes, my hair is still really really blue and not fading a whole lot. Overall, I love this brand, and I plan to keep buying this!
