Q: Are these really thick?

I would say they are about twice the thickness of a standard crew sock. The thickness is noticeable at the bottom of your foot.

Q: why do the more expensive ones have rubber and less cotton?

I’m not exactly sure. I bought the black ones for my husband. They are thin and tight. Very low cotton content. Hope that helps.

Q: Listing states "count" per package... is that individual socks or pairs?

In this case, it is pairs. It's good you ask. Some are sold as individual socks. Huh!

Q: Do these get fuzz balls?

No. I love these socks. After several washings they fit as sung as the day I bought them and they do not get the little balls of fuzz that others I've bought tend to. When I need new ones I'm definitely getting these again.
