This toaster is exactly what I was looking for—simple, reliable, and budget-friendly. The extra-wide slots easily handle bagels and thicker bread slices without a struggle. Toasts evenly, the shade selector is accurate, and the toast boost feature makes it easy to grab smaller slices. For just under $30, it looks great on the counter and does exactly what it promises. No complaints at all—solid value!

Just got this toaster today. Had the identical model but it broke after 2 years, lever wouldn't stay down. I loved it, just hope this one lasts longer, it's compact and efficient. I reordered because I love Hamilton Beach products.

I love the black color of this toaster. However, it does not seem as well built as my last, it seems a bit cheap. You can toast two at a time - the slots are wide. It frequently burns my toast so I turned it down just slightly which makes it not quite get as toasty as I would like. Hmmm.. It does make a loud sound when the toast ejects… and I find it a bit stiff to “release” the toast early if you don’t want to burn it. I feel like I’m going to break it. I still use it anyway… but not quite getting that perfect toast every time like my last one did.

Bread slices really come out perfect once you find your setting. Nice colors and crispy.

I don’t know what dark sorcery Hamilton Beach conjured, but this setting makes bagels toastier on the cut side while leaving the outer crust soft and chewable. It’s like it understands bagels on a spiritual level.Then there’s the Toast Boost. Picture this: you’re groggily waiting for your toast, and BAM, it launches your bread high enough to land directly into your hand. No more fishing around for burnt fingertips. It’s a culinary catapult, and I’m here for it.The Shade Selector? A game-changer. You can go from “lightly warmed bread” to “crispy perfection” with the twist of a dial. Personally, I live on a steady diet of setting #4, but it’s nice to know there’s a #6 for when life gets wild.And let’s not overlook the Auto Shutoff. My past toasters were ticking time bombs, but this one is like a responsible parent that says, “You’ve had enough excitement for one morning.”The only downside? I now have a habit of toasting things I probably shouldn’t. Marshmallows, cold pizza, even a Pop-Tart that technically didn’t need toasting—it’s a slippery slope when you own a toaster this good.If this toaster were a person, it’d be the overachiever in your friend group—always showing up on time, looking sharp, and making everyone else feel inadequate. 10/10, would toast again.

Very disappointed... We purchased this to replace the one we have had for over 10 years.. it also is a Hamilton which we purchased at a local brick and mortar store.We were very happy to get it delivered the day after we placed the order.....From there,, all was down hill. When we placed some bread in it and pressed down on the start/latch lever... The lever did not latch. The lever returned back to its off, or up position, and of course the toasting cycle never started.We tested it again on another outlet just in case the one the old toaster had been plugged into was faulty,,, and the new toaster,,, again didn't work... by the way, the outlet in question is and was working,,, we have an ice maker plugged into that outlet and it's making ice.I will be returning this for a refund,,, I just don't have a good feeling about replacing it with an identical one which might have the same factory issues.

Not very fancy, but attractive and solidly built. Simply an excellent basic toaster!

I read the description, even went to the Hamilton Beach website to verify the "Bagel" option. I was looking for a toaster that shuts off part of the heating elements when toasting bagels so that only the cut side is toasted, this also works well for hamburger buns. The description both places didn't say whether this toaster shuts off part of the elements, only that it would make the cut side of bagels toasty and only warm the other side. Nope, it toasts both sides, all the bagel setting does is to increase the cycle time.This toaster also arrived with the lever jammed and at first did not want to push down to begin the toasting cycle. After several attempts of jiggling/wiggling the handle it finally did push down, however it would still get stuck about every other use. I only used the unit a total of 4 times before returning it after determining that it did NOT work as expected. The toast it made was however very evenly toasted and this toaster has a small countertop footprint. If you're just looking for a simple toaster that makes regular toast real well, this is a great choice. If you're looking for a true bagel toaster that will only toast once side, this is not the unit you want.
