I call this old school because off-line MP3 players have largely been superceded by smartphones. But if you want a small device you can carry everywhere, that lasts 7 or 8 hours between charges (that is a minimum - I have never run the battery down so can only guess) and that does only one thing - plays audio files- then this is a good option. Because it doesn't have a touch screen, you can use it in the dark. You can pick it up, put on your earphones, switch it on, carry on listening to the file you were listening to before, regulate the volume and navigate to the next or previous files, all with your eyes shut. Great for insomniacs like me who want to listen to something in those empty hours between 4 and 7 am without switching on the light and waking anyone else up. I was looking for an MP3 player that plays Audible files and that remembers the location on each file - and this fits the bill. I can listen to file A, stop in the middle, start listening to file B and then file C, and it will remember the position on file A and B when I return to them. (It gives you an option -resume from the last point or start from the beginning). Most media players will not do this. Great for listening to audiobooks, operas, radio plays or other long files. It has various folders where you can put the files - if you want it to remember the position use the Audiobook folder, which has two sections, one for Audible files and one (called Podcasts) for mp3 files. If you don't need it to remember the position (eg if you want just to play music and are happy for it to begin at the beginning of a track) you can use the Music folder. To put files on the player, just plug it into your computer using the USB lead and drag and drop. If you add a SD card to the player this will show up as a separate disc on the computer. All in all a great replacement for the Zen Stone MP3 player that I used for 11 years before it finally died on me. The only slight drawback is that it does not have a built-in speaker as the Zen Stone did. But its much greater storage capacity and ability to remember the position on more than one file more than compensates. If you want to play music or audio files through an external speaker you will have to plug a connecting lead into the headphone jack. There is no Bluetooth connectivity. As I said, it's old school. It does just one thing, and does it well.

Bought this because I'm sick of having Bluetooth headphones on all the time. Having a powerful radio signal attached to your head for hours on end can't be good. And I got this for my music but it's ended up being a audiobook system. Because I seen the audible section it's brilliant it remembers your place in the book..sign up to audible on a free month you get a free book .see if you like it then cancel you get to keep the book . Although you have to authenticate the MP3 player on audible it's easy just plug your MP3 player it recognises it ..the sound is good the battery could be a little better but still not enough of a problem to take a star off ..drag and drop easy to load it up ..when setting it up make sure you pick (rest of the word) otherwise you can't get the true full volume..if you pick UK they try to protect our delicate little ears ..if I want damaged hearing it should be my choice... peace out
