Old school is the best school…
I have been riding bicycles for over 30 years. I have come to find that using cloth tape is the best type of handlebar tape.Though the new tapes of foam might be more comfortable on your hands the foam tape sucks. it is for wimpy people who do not have the stamina or the smart to actually ride a road bike and all weather conditions. Though the foam may be comfortable it does not work because it does not stick to the handlebars in hot and cold weather. The cloth tape is superior in this matter. Number one it will adhere to the handlebars in hot and cold weather. Number two it will absorb any sweat or liquid that may come into contact with. Three though it may not be the ultimate comfort , if you double and triple wrapped it , it is as comfortable if not more than foam tape.. Foam tape cracks & falls apart under ALL adverse weather conditions… Number four it is cheaper to make. Number five it is a natural item and does not harm the environment such as the plastic foam tape.If you are concerned with the environment and your great-grandchildren environment you will agree and use the natural cotton tape to help preserve generations to come!!!😎👍🏼😎👍🏼😎

Retro
The last time that I needed a part for my forty year old Peugeot P10, I had to salvage it from a bicycle that I keep for just such a purpose. I have ridden though a dozen European countries, and many thousands of miles on my P10. The technology has changed, but I am not about to.My original handlebar plugs had long ago vanished. I decided to get new handlebar plugs and to redo the tape. The last time that I did this was probably twenty years ago.It should not have been a surprise that my local bicycle shop did not have cloth handlebar tape. Fortunately, I was able to find Velox Tressostar Cloth Handlebar Tape and a pair of Fyxation Bar End Plugs on Amazon. The tape went on reasonably well. There was enough of it with some left over. The plugs went in easily, although I had to dig up an allen wrench to complete the job.I am happy with my new handlebar tape and bar plug combination. It should be good for another twenty years. Now all I need is to have the snow and ice melt.

The Classic Tape
Velox makes the best RIM tape on earth. Their HB tape has been around forever - I used it in the 70's. It looks good & provides a good grip in any weather. It's durable cotton & inexpensive. Green too, I suppose.Down side? Not padded, but still feels good with a sure grip. Not the easiest to wrap; a novice will have problems. I'm a pro bike mechanic for 40 years. Owned the best pro shop in south Florida for over a decade. I've wrapped hundreds of bars with every kind of tape. You must keep the trail of tape SHORT off the Tressostar roll as you wrap, otherwise it'll stick to itself. Adhesion is excellent. Coming behind the brake levers is the hard part; you must approach it well & stretch the tape while rounding the back of the levers. Start from the end of the bar with the roll towards the inside of the bar as you wrap; this will prevent the edges from peeling back by your grip. Also before starting, cut a 2" piece off to place behind the bend, over the brake lever clamp, so that after you make the upwards turn, no bar is exposed. Classic tape. I always use Black tape because it offers the best contrast to any color & doesn't show the dirt. Never try to match the color of your frame; it never matches. Same with cable housing. Black always looks best & doesn't detract from that beautiful paint job! I hated that era in the 80's when saddles & tape were always white! Not on my bikes! I'll admit I stopped using the Velox when Cinelli cork tape came out - still the best in my opinion, though there's some good synthetic cork-like tape too. Velox is the classic tape with the best grip & least expensive.

Excellent product. I used it for the handles on 2 two-wheelers. Sweaty hands get a great grip, insulates well when I use it in the beer cooler. Used it 30 years ago on bicycle handlebars, it was good then, too. If you do 100+ mile rides you may want a tape with more cushion

GRRR8!!!
I have a really nice set of car top luggage carriers that had mounting clamps that could scratch the paint on the car when they were clamped on. I tried painting the clamps with silicon glue to protect the car from scratching but the paint proved to be unreliable due to it's ease of rubbing/peeling off under stress. I purchased this tape in hopes that it could do a better job of hanging onto the clamps and stop the problem of paint scratching. This turned out to be the cat's meow in doing what I wanted it to do. The tape has proven to be durable to the frictional wear of the clamps and the car's paint is out of danger. This tape might prove useful in other ways around the shop so I have decided to always keep a couple of rolls in the tool cabinet. Thanks Tressostar and Amazon for saving the day!

functional, nice, but not cheap.
Works fine, just requires more than you think you will need and it isn't cheap.

Silky feel
The tape has better adhesion than newbaums but it’s thinner. It also has a smooth feel than the near-burlap texture of the other stuff

Exactly as expected
Bought these for a vintage bike build. This is genuine old school cloth tape. Easy to wrap with good adhesive backing. No comfort whatsoever when compared to all the modern cushiony bar wraps of today, but that’s not the point. These are period correct for any pre-1980’s bike.
