Went through 3 or 4 different outdoor cameras before settling in this one. All the other ones had a terrible field of vision when I had them installed just above my garage. This one has an incredible range and the video quality is awesome. Had a few issues with getting the wireless signal to synch up but I have a dual band route so I was able to get that sorted out (had too many devices on one band and moved it to its own band). They give you a month of free Nest Aware, but I recommend paying for the service every month so you can get the video clips of anytime there is a person or motion that it detects.

We now own ten of these cameras, mounted all around the outside of our home. The picture quality is excellent in daylight and works quite well in lower night light. The lenses are wide angle and can see way out to the sides. But, for $200 don't expect to be able to zoom in on the image and see great detail. You'll need to spend a LOT more money for that! We're perfectly satisfied with the video quality and that they all work very well wirelessly with our WiFi signal. We did have to install a couple of WiFi extenders to get a strong enough signal in a couple of outdoor spots. Although they do have black and white night vision, we prefer to leave them on full color at night. Again, a strong, fast WiFi connection helps with that. Since these cameras are dependent on an electrical outlet, we had to run long extension cords under the eves to some spots but we like that they are on 24/7 and we subscribed to the Nest cloud so that they are constantly recording and storing the video for weeks. The only downside is that if these cameras lose either power or the WiFi signal they will stop working. As long as you have reliable power and a good, reliable WiFi signal you'll be very satisfied.

This camera is makes for a simple installation, is unobtrusive, and has excellent qualities for security applications. As long as you have broadband to cover the needed wifi connection, use the google nest subscription to keep costs down, I believe it is around $60.00 a year for 6 cameras and includes a longer storage of videos for playback - they have a system that its worth a look if you are trying to decide what to use for your home, business, etc...

I love the camera and software but can make you think it’s dead after power resets. A simple unplug doesn’t fix it. You have to disconnect its usb connection it’s power cord to reset it for some reason rather than just unplug at power source. Difficult to do in an attic where wire runs are. I unfortunately discarded my first one after less than 2 years of use before I learned about this. Worth the $15/mo 24/7 recording/ security though compared to most other options.

The Nest Camera system is great - until your internet service is interrupted - at which point it is totally useless. After purchasing the subscription to record video history, the system had several hours where nothing was recorded. Know that this system lacks ANY cellular backup. *To function as an effective security camera, the system needs to have either a hard drive back up disk in each camera (some other brands do) and/or cellular back up during internet outages. Nest/Google should provide a solution via one of their routers and make it clear to Nest camera subscription users. *If you intend to use it as a security camera, forget it. As soon as the internet goes down (or is hacked), the cameras stop recording. Very stressful! I repeat - you will see nothing on the camera history feed - just large blacked out "camera offline" data. Anything could be happening during these offline events. It provided neither peace of mind nor security. It's fun to use and the image quality is great - when it works.

I love nest cams. They are reliable, clear video, pick up sounds great, good notifications,the ones I have are 24 hr video and are great. Had a drive by shooting and was helpful to law enforcement. Highly recommend.

Since I already had 8 of them outside my house, it is obvious how good their quality is. Easy to set up and picture quality is outstanding,
