I was skeptical that the low price meant poor quality, but the reviewers were right. 5 star
Amazon lumps together reviews and ratings for similar products into one umbrella review for many products, so just to be clear, I'm writing a review for the Sun Joe iON16LM 40 V 16-Inch Cordless Lawn Mower with Brushless Motor. This mower is small. But in a way that makes it even better. Not as a wide of a cut, sure, but the thing is so light and easy to use it's a tradeoff I'm happy to make. It's so light and easy to use that I was fairly sure it would have trouble with front yard. I've got weed grass up there. That is to say, I've never planted grass up there. But the clover and wild grass that grows up there, when kept up, looks just as good as grass. The problem with it is that if I don't mow it for a couple weeks it can grow in really thick and some areas get to be a foot high, especially when it rains. That was the current condition of my front yard when I got this thing. I started with my backyard, about 40'x40', and regular run of the mill grass. I was immediately impressed with how low I could set this thing to. My old mower, in spite of having 6 settings on it, didn't have any settings for lower than a couple inches. I don't know exactly how low it could go, all i know is that I wanted it to cut lower. I set this thing to lowest setting, and it got my grass and inch lower than I ever could get it before. So that was great. Rolled through the backyard without a problem at all. Now, knowing I had the front yard to still do, and knowing it was gonna tax this thing far more than the backyard did, I put the battery on the charger for 2 hours and did other work in the yard before taking it off the charger and hitting the front yard. I don't know how the low the battery was when I put it back on the charger, so I can't say how long it would've gone for. But I used it for about 20 minutes in the backyard without a problem. Now, the front yard. Now I do use a special technique when my front yard get's too long. That is that I pop a wheelie with the mower with a bout a 30 degree angle, thusly not making the mower eat up the full length of the overgrown grass in one pass. I was sure that would choke it up, and I didn't want to break this thing the first day that I got it. So I employed my technique on the high growth spots and then went back over it flush to get the cut low. I spent about 30 minutes in the front yard all said and done, needing to empty the bag twice, and the mower didn't show any signs of slowing down. Not only that, it handled the long grass better than my plug in electric that I got this to replace. Also, it's so light and maneuverable that my arms were far less taxed after mowing my lawn than with my previous corded electric mower. Now, full disclosure, I did have one of the front wheel axles bend a bit on this first mow day, causing the wheel to turn in a bit, but it hasn't caused me any problems, and when it does I'll happily order a new wheel. I've used this mower 3 weekends in a row now and it's still as awesome as the first mow. I don't know how it compares to other mowers in it's genre, but I got it because the reviews were positive, and were many. Just want to add my positive review to help others know this thing is worth buying. Word.

Best little mower EVER!
I. Love. This. Thing!!!! I call it my AntMan lawn mower. I can’t believe I suffered through two gas mowers before finally giving this a try. I wasn’t interested in something i would have to charge in the middle of mowing. That would make me crazy. This little baby will mow my lawn, front and back, TWICE on one charge. It’s a combined 600 sf, so not a huge area, but the thing is so light and maneuverable I think it would easily mow three times that area in one charge. I love the push button start. So much better than pulling and pulling on some dumb string. My last mower was a brand new Yard Man and I had to prime it 10-12 times to get it started. Then; it left all these little blades everywhere that the mower missed, like stray hairs. It guzzled gas, and when I added oil, I put too much and it spilled out the other side. Huge mess. Totally my fault, but that’s my point: I don’t want to deal with gas and oil and the smell and the noise. This little AntMan is so light, very quiet, and cuts better than either of my last two mowers. Bonus: the mulch catcher on back couldn’t be easier to detach, empty, and re-attach. I hated the old bulky bag that was heavy to lift and you had to stick your hand in to empty it. If it’s not clear, I am in love with this mower! This and my Ryobi battery leaf blower are my two best garden investments. I have the song from The Hangover in my head - we’re the three best friends that anyone could have! 🤣🤣🤣

Lousy customer support
This was my first ever brand new lawn mower purchase. I was excited about it. I’ve had this lawn mower for several years now, and while small, light, and kind of flimsy feeling, it did the job, but one thing it does pretty often is get bogged down on tall grass even at the highest setting, and throws the blade assembly. It’s been a hassle to pick the pieces up and reattach them but not an insurmountable problem up until this year, when the assembly flew off yet again, but this time the small rectangular plastic piece that holds the blade disappeared. No problem I thought - it’s a small part, I’ll just order a replacement. But no. Sun Joe says they no longer carry this replacement part, and I can tell you after much research this isn’t a standard size and shape you can just pick up at a hardware store. It’s insane to me that the company is still selling this model but no longer offers the support of a small custom part that is prone to falling off. Planned obsolescence sucks. I mean, at least offer us the design so we can pay someone to 3D print it. I know I’m just one small person in an endless stream of consumers but whoever in their company made the arbitrary decision to stop supplying a needed replacement part has lost their company a customer for life.

This is a great mower if you have regular suburb yard. It is very easy to operate and does a very good job at cutting grass. It's very light, super easy to push and extra quiet. The bag is well made and easy to empty. It also fits inside your regular lawn kraft bags from Canadian Tire or Costco which is quite handy as it won't spill all over as you're emptying it. I'm adding 3 pictures. First one of my lawn with fairly long grass, second of the mower cutting it to show perspective of how long the grass was and also the end result. You can judge for yourself but I'm very satisfied of the results. Battery does last around the advertised 30-40minute, is easy and fast to charge back up and will fit other tools from the same brand (I own the 2 stage snowblower). Very pleased overall and recommend it without hesitation.

This little mower gets 2 thumbs up. I use it on a mid size urban lawn, about 40*40 (feet) in size and then in the back which is about 40x120 With a 4amp hour battery it can do the big lawn once, or the small lawn twice. It's very light and quite quiet. Drawbacks are a small grass capacity with no side discharge or mulch option. It doesn't like super tall or thick grass but with regular mowing it does a very good job. Its plastic and light and likely won't last 20 years like the craftsman mower at the lake, but that's not the intent. It's small size and limited run time preclude using it for an acreage, but for the average city lot it does just fine. I have about 30 uses done so far and it still is working very well.

I purchased the Core Tool (without the 4amp-hour battery/charger) because I also bought the Snow Joe iON21SB-Pro snow blower and am using its compatible 5 amp-hour battery. I have about 1,600 sq/ft of lawn to mow and it works well. I've already used it twice since receiving it and my 5 amp-hour battery still displays a full charge. The cordless factor is so convenient. It reduces mowing time and makes mowing easier by eliminating cord management with every pass as well as eliminating the accidental disconnections in the middle of a pass. It also runs more quietly than I expected. There are some flaws which prevent this from getting a 5-star rating: 1. It doesn't mulch (if you're one of those people who prefer mulching to bagging). 2. The bag is too small. 3. In addition to being too small, the bag is poorly designed such that you are guaranteed to spill some clippings when you remove it from the mower to empty its contents. 4. The body of the mower is subject to a small amount of flexion or torsion so that if you happen to lift and jerk it while mowing to move it out of a tight spot, or change its course, you will hear (and feel) the blade hit the inner side of the mower. 5. The handle doesn't fold down as much as I would have liked for easy storage. I would recommend this mower in spite of the noted flaws.

Bought this because I was so happy with my cordless Joe Snow snow blower that I've had through 2 winters. Got it yesterday, and mowed my whole lawn. It is light and easy to push. Dealt with the patches of 5 inches of long growth no problem. 45 mins of mowing and I was done and lawnmower still going strong. LOVE these products! No more wrenching my arm on the pull cord to try and get my gas mower started! :-) I've had cordless mowers before, but always with those huge batteries that stay on the mower and plug in to charge....none of them lasted past a season - likely because I never went out in the dead of winter to plug them in at all. These Joe products are so great - since the batteries are so small and just come off to pop in their charger indoors, it is so easy to charge them up off-season to keep them healthy. Normally I wait a few months to review a product, to see how it holds up......but with my good experience with the snowblower I'm not waiting on this one.

What a great little mower used it for the first time.....we had a 6.5 hp gas mower but when we moved and developed our new yard ,way less lawn. This new mower is compact.has lots of torque and does a great job. Folds up so it can be stored ina plastic yard bin and best of all you can lift it with one arm. Only thing that is different is the grass catcher bag is much smaller than I am used to ...but just means a few extra trips to the compost bin. If a person had more than 20 mins mowing...get a second battery
