Q: Can a child use this?

I would say a child over the age of 7 or 8 should be capable of learning how to use the toileting aid unless he or she has difficulty with hand usage. It is simply a matter of wrapping some tissue around the head, slipping it off, pressing the bottom button to open the clamp, reinserting the tissue through the hole that was formed, and releasing the button so the clamp holds the tissue firmly. It is also important not to wipe too aggressively or the tissue may tear. It is not a perfect system but I have tried several types and like this one the best.

Q: Will wet flushable wipes work?

I don't know if they are sturdy enough. They would also need to be 7.1 in x 7.9 in (18 cm x 20 cm) or larger if they are to hold on to the self-wipe aid. I use Costco Kirkland brand wipes but they are NOT flushable!
