I lost the original remote, so having this replacement unit was critically important. It seems well made and sends a stronger signal to the receiver than the original one. If you are considering buying one, be aware that it does not register new pre-sets. It only accesses the ones you already have. This company uses a single remote for many audio and video devices. That's why it looks like a TV remote and has some buttons labeled for video use. Only the buttons intended for a given device actually work,.

does not turn stereo off only on
Red power button turns the Harman Kardon on but does not turn it off. One still has to use the manual power to turn it off.

Better remote than original
This remote saved my Harmon Kardon stereo receiver. My original remote stopped working after 14 years of use. This replacement remote is better and more powerful than the original remote. All of the functions I use work flawlessly. Volume, mute, power and input selections worked right out of the box. Glad I found this remote. Highly recommended for people with older Harmon Kardon stereo equipment.
