Works great
Works remarkably well attracting Japanese beetles away from my blackberry plants. I went from thinking I had an infestation to maybe seeing one here or there.

A game changer
Wow! Why did I wait so long to try these?! I had tried Neem Oil with mixed successes and knew these bags existed. I remember seeing them on lawns as a kid!I think I always assumed using an attractant instead of a repellent for pests was not a solid idea. However, this product changed my mind!I watched the beetles fly off of my fruit trees and over to the trap. They were crawling on it before I got it hung up! Super simple to use. Easy to swap out bags if needed and they’re incredibly effective. I likely have 3 or 4 dozen in both traps on the first day! I’ve even checked the trees since using this item and they aren’t bothering them much at all. They had almost deforested both almost overnight but fingers crossed for no more damage. As long as the bait stays this strong? They’ll last all season.

These work!
I used to walk around my garden collecting Japanese beetles in a pitcher of water. It was tedious. This trap works so well, I have only a few beetles still hanging around and I just bat them away knowing they'll eventually find the trap. I've disposed of so many with this trap. Here's a tip though...when the bag is full there's still a lot of bait left. I tried emptying the bag and reusing but it was so stinky and messy that I tossed the bag when it got full again. I grabbed a bread loaf bag and hung it on the frame and it fit very well and also caught more beetles than the bag that came with the trap. I gave 4 stars because I believe the trap should come with more bags. I will keep using bread bags until the bait is depleted, then set up a second trap if needed.

Works great!
I am honestly shocked at how well this worked. It work fast as soon as we put it up and it caught hundreds (maye thousands) of beetles last season with one on either end of our yard. The pods and plastic parts on the top had no durability issues, but the metal stand sold separately is junk. The design is simple and clever but I highly recommend handing it from a slick surface with as little twist-tie/rope as possible. The beetles will absolutely find any clingy surface they can and will hold onto that instead of going for the smell pods. The trap works best when the beetles simply fly into the slick yellow panels with nothing to grip on, and fall into the trap once they try to land.Had a very strong smell of cloves (quite nice actually) and once the trap was full it was easy to clean up and pop-off the bag and replace.I've heard concerns about this drawing more beetles to your yard and subsequently to your plants. Our plants were already so covered it surely didn't matter, and I think it's far better to take out a significant part of their population in the area, which this definitely did. I would highly recommend this to anyone with a Japanese beetle infestation.

This works for the Japanese Beetle.
Been using this for a couple of years now. Place it approximately 10 feet away from the infested tree. Dead beetles can smell very bad after 3-4 weeks.

Flimsy engineer design
The materials and design used for the bag to catch the beetles are weak. It was frustrating to work with the flimsy plastic and then hang it with a bread tie. However the Beetles immediately flocked to the disgusting scent!

Simple and super effective!!
Thinking that perhaps Moses had released the Japanese beetle plague upon us I ordered these very simple but very effective traps. The first trap I put together and connected it to the light outside my back door and by the time I had the second trap together in less than five minutes I already had over 10 Beatles in the first trap!! By the time I got the last trap put together and hung out in the yard I would estimate I easily had over 50 Beatles in my traps. Warning do not hang them near the entrance of your house because you will have a beetle swarm plaguing you as you enter and exit! I can tell already it won’t be long and I will be changing the bags out, so thankfully they came with a second bag for each trap! I already can tell it’s a fabulous product thank you Spectraside!

Place a bucket of water under the trap to catch any falling beetles
I recently purchased the Spectracide Bag-A-Bug Japanese Beetle Trap, hoping to save my garden from the annoying Japanese beetles that were wreaking havoc on my plants. The situation was getting out of hand, and I needed a solution that didn't involve spraying harmful chemicals on my precious veggies. After setting up the trap, I was amazed at how quickly it started attracting the beetles. Within hours, they were swarming around the trap, and it didn't take long for them to start filling up the bag.I must admit, I was a bit grossed out by the sight of the bag filled with dead beetles, but it's a small price to pay for a beetle-free garden. The trap covers a significant area, and it seems to be lasting the entire beetle season, providing continuous protection. The lure system used in this trap is effective, drawing in two to five times more beetles than other lures alone. One tip I found online was to place a bucket of water under the trap to catch any beetles that may fall from the bag. It worked like a charm, and I was able to prevent even more beetles from causing damage. The trap does emit a strong scent, but it's not unpleasant, and it fades after a few days. Overall, this product has been a lifesaver for my garden, and I highly recommend it if you're dealing with a Japanese beetle infestation. Just be prepared for the somewhat disturbing sight of the bag filled with trapped beetles!
