Simple setup and use
Easy to open packaging and simple setup. Instruction manual was clearly written but I had the basic idea from watching Youtube videos prior to ordering. Was able to split several fires worth of wood in a few hours. One caveat: the extension cord is pretty short so you may need a heavy duty extension cord.

Split wood as advertised. Very happy with product. Split wood that I cut 2 weeks ago.

Disappointed and Have Not Used it Yet
Opened the carton and removed the log splitter. After putting the wheels on I noticed the rubber caps on the bottom of the rails were both damaged, and bolts were missing from one of the rails. I found the bolts in the box, but did not find the nuts. also, they state to check the oil reserve but the dipstick is screwed in extremely tight, going to have to use plyers to get it opened, not something I am comfortable doing as it should open by hand. I called the toll free number from the owners manual and on the recording it stated for the AAVIX product to call another toll free number. When I called that number I got a recording to leave a message. Not the customer service I expected. At this time I am awaiting a call back to discuss my disappointment with the product.Just went into my garage to look at the log splitter again, and it appears that one of the legs (without the bolts) is not aligned with the other. I am thinking that during shipping one of the legs was pressed down, as I found the nuts for the bolts sheared off. At this time the leg does not along with the pre drilled holes. Entire product will likely be returned. I am awaiting to hear from the manufacturer, I contacted them thru their website. Lets see how this goes.

I would not recommend for anyone splitting anything but small pieces of softwood.
Box came absolutely destroyed, some hardware was missing but I happened to have what I needed on hand. Fins on the motor came bent and disfigured. Paint all over the machine was scraped and worn making it look like it was previously used and returned. The ridiculous method of having to push the button with one hand while pulling the lever with the other makes it a pain to use, most people I know only have 2 hands, this makes you need a third. WEAK, has trouble splitting oak of any size if there is a single knot or if the wood is not 100% dried before splitting. The splitting blade is extremely dull so I sharpened it, did not help. When it finds a piece it can't split you can see the whole machine bend and warp. I modified the blade to give it a longer, thinner cutting edge before the wide angle section and it now splits wood under 4" without much fuss but anything bigger is a fight of having to turn it multiple times and "shave" off the outer edges to get the piece split. This machine is greatly under powered but the frame of it bending under load shows that it is made so poorly that any more power and it would destroy itself.

Plenty of power but awkward design.
I was surprised that it was shipped UPS. When it showed up on the scheduled day, It was good I was home, since the driver couldn't manage it by himself. He said it was over 100 pounds. The box was in pretty bad shape. But everything appears to be there. Minimal assembly is required. Pretty much just the wheels and some rubber feet that aren't a good design. They'll fall off eventually. After assembly, I had to try it out on a few logs. 5 out of 5 on power. 3 out of 5 on design. It's a two handed operation. One hand to press and hold motor switch and one hand to engage pump. I'm also not crazy about the motor switch location. To hold both hands properly, you're right there on the side. I'll probably have to see if it will work with a foot pedal or something.

Read manual before operating
Fabulous splitter- worked right of the box. Even split piñon ( very hardwood) . Just stay clear as hardwood pops. I was amazed at the power. I checked all bolts and screws and found most all loose from factory- CHECK them!!!

Falling apart after the first use. Would only split for about 15 minutes then it would lose power and wouldnt split a small piece of pine. Dont waist your money.
