Pricey but necessary for some applications
Every time I make my chocolate cake, I get tons of requests for the recipe. I have friends and family who now live far away and when I give them the recipe, they don't make it because they don't normally bake so they don't usually have all the ingredients on hand. Since then I've starting making a cake mix with all the powdered ingredients so all they have to do is add milk and egg. Vanilla was always hard since friends who don't bake typically don't have it on hand.According to their conversion chart, this Vanilla Bean is 2x as strong as Vanilla extract (0.5 tsp = 1 tsp of vanilla extract). So instead of telling them they have to go and get vanilla, I can add it into my mix before sending it to them. The quality is great and works just as well.My only complaint is the price. Now I know that the price of Vanilla has skyrocketed in the past few years but this is still pricey by comparison. A half ounce of this costs $9 for 3.5 teaspoons of powder (equivalent to 7 tsp of vanilla extract according to their conversion chart) making it about $1.42 for a teaspoon of vanilla whereas my liquid vanilla costs approximately $0.31 a teaspoon. It is 4x-5x the cost of my liquid vanilla. That being said, this powder has many applications that the liquid doesn't. My cake mix example is only one of the ways to use this powder. I also like using vanilla powder over extracts when making various other baked goods where you don't want to incorporate more liquid. Therefore this is a great option for my intended use of incorporating into dry cake mixes but it isn't something I'd use on a daily basis for baking unless there is a special need for it.Review For:Madagascar Vanilla Bean Powder (0.5oz) from Ground whole Gourmet Pods by FITNCLEAN VANILLA| Raw Natural Pure Unsweetened No Additives NON-GMO

Vanilla bean powder
I got the Madagascar Vanilla Bean Powder (0.5oz) from Ground whole Gourmet Pods by FITNCLEAN VANILLA| Raw Natural Pure Unsweetened No Additives NON-GMO. This powder came in a resealable pouch. I liked that it had a clear label with an expiration date, and that it expired more than a year after I received the pouch. I also like that there were directions on how to convert measurements for liquid vanilla extract to measurements for this vanilla bean powder. This pouch did last longer than I expected since less powder is needed than extract. This made the pouch more cost effective than I expected.I found that I liked this powder better in some items and less in others. It is also nice for adding to coffee, which really can't be done with extract. The pouch arrived fresh and the resealable pouch helped preserve it, but this powder did lose its flavor more quickly after opening than extract would. Both types have their advantages and disadvantages, but I will mostly stick to extract.

Great!
I have used several vanilla bean powders and have found that they are so much easier to use than a liquid vanilla. This particular vanilla powder is made of a high-quality vanilla bean, which results in a stronger flavor and aroma. I love the flavor of vanilla and for those baked goods or smoothies where that flavor is important, this is a great powder to have on hand. I highly recommend it!

Good, fresh vanilla flavor
This packet of vanilla is the tiniest little bag--it almost seems sample sized. Thankfully, you only have to use half of the quantity in recipes as compared to "normal" vanilla extract or flavoring, so it will go twice as far.To try and taste test it the best I could, I used it in a recipe where vanilla has to shine, which is a dairy-free ice cream recipe I use. It turned out really well, with a unique and gourmet taste as compared to liquid flavoring. The powder also lends an interesting color and look, making the ice cream a little off-white, with tiny brown flecks throughout.I really like it--it's really tasty and distinct from flavoring. I do wish the bag were a bit larger, but everything else is good.

Dust?
No vanilla flavor at all - doesn't smell like anything either. Just tastes like dust. Bad product.

not as potent as expected
I've never had whole ground pods before so this was a new experience. While the beans are usually used to infuse vanilla flavor, the pods hold flavor as well, but my experience with this was that it isn't as potent as beans. I thought that it would be easy to overdo it with this, but I found that I could substitute this almost measure for measure for vanilla extract without making the vanilla too strong. I liked how easy it was to measure and the fact that it didn't add more moisture to certain dishes. I liked this for meringue cookie sin particular as I prefer not to add more liquid to them. I also liked the convenience of using a powder instead of a liquid. However, value is a concern, but this is real vanilla and not an artificial substitute. I believe it is more economical than using real beans, but not as potent.

Pure vanilla in powder form
If you have purchased vanilla powder in the past and gotten a white, sweet, vanilla flavored powder, this is not what this product is. This is a totally different concept. This is the actual Madagascar vanilla beans ground up and ready to be added to milkshakes, sugar cookies, cakes, etc. It is a fun product to experiment with and one to use cautiously until you get the flavor you want. It is quite easy to measure out the amount you need, because it is a loose powder. Worked very well in sugar cookies.

When you don't feel like scraping a bean!
Sometimes, I want to have fresh vanilla but dealing with a vacuum-sealed bag of beans is simply too much effort. This powder is not as awesome as some vanilla bean paste but is less expensive. I tried it in a Cappuccino with Almond Milk and the flavor was really good. Most important the level of effort was nothing more than grabbing a spoon, dip, and stir. Super easy and very tasty!
