I love this product but I was surprised at how LARGE it is. It's not like we can keep it set up and out at home. It spans the width of our kitchen table. I had considered purchasing a smaller version, and wished I had. Would be a great product for homeschooling or a school classroom though!

Great gift for an elementary teacher
I bought this for my mentor and cooperating teacher who has a first grade classroom. With such diverse learning needs and styles of teaching/learning that are explored today, this gift turned out to be a great tool. Many students are not only visual learners but are also kinetic. They need to touch and make the change occur themselves to be able to retain the information. Having this scale show the balance and what numbers go together to make other numbers was great towards practice in addition and subtraction as well as greater/lesser than. I would recommend this in a heartbeat. Teachers get so many gifts at Christmas that are repeats from years before or one of multiples from that year (coffee mugs, pencil holders, frames, etc.) this gift is great as in it is both useful in the classroom and it keeps them from spending their own money on supplemental materials.

Good product
I am homeschooling my almost 4 year old and thought this looked like a good tool to have...Initially he was intrigued but after figuring out how it works is not too interested...I'm hopeful that will change once he starts learning addition and subtraction and can visually see the numbers add up...Pretty good quality...easy to assemble...for the price I'd say it is worth it...

Good intro to math concepts for tinkering kids...
Ingenious. My 4 year old "discovered" this toy in a classroom in our older child's elementary school. I swear, it's the perfect introduction to simple math concepts because initially, it's so much fun to play with!It really starts with something as simple as hanging the provided weights and observing how the balance works out. But then other toys can be hung from it, and a digital scale can be introduced, and the experimentation begins. My only gripe is the included 10g weights are a bit light at 9.5g apiece, which has absolutely zero impact on the intended use, but messes things up a little if a kitchen scale is brought out as an additional component.

Mfg Defect?
Purchased quite a while ago but didn’t notice this until now? Why? Clearly a mfg defect but not sure how I missed it when it was unboxed.

Awesome toy
I saw this toy in a local kid's science museum and just had to get it. It's quite a bit better than its description and I feel like the seller really should post a video to give it justice. My almost 3-year old didn't show a lot of patience with it but I feel like it's a good teaching tool for slightly older kids. It's hard to explain but basically, you hang weights on either side of the yellow beam to make it balance. When my little one is ready, I feel like it will be a great hands-on introduction to very basic math and physics.

Loved it. Bought 2.
This is SUCH a great tool to help kids visualize math and understand the relationship between numbers. It can be used for addition, subtraction, and for teaching algebra. I bought one for my Kindergardener and loved it so much we got another one for his class. His teacher sent me a note to say thank you, and that the entire class LOVED it. It's not a "game" so I don't understand the negative reviews that talk about getting bored with it ... it's not meant to entertain, it's a tool that helps kids visualize math bonds and relationships between numbers. Easy to put together, durable, effective.

Missing pieces!
I purchased this for my classroom in June and opened it today (August) and discovered it was missing half of the pieces. I am so disappointed!
