SandShark Underwater Metal Detector w Earphones by Treasure Hunter

First off I want to say this is not what I was expecting.I specifically wanted to buy a Pulse induction metal detector. This performed just like a VLF.This is a real hit or miss when it comes to the beach. I often found it giving too many beeps over the sand. It is nothing but static noise.Headphone quality is poor, could easily snap because of the thin plastic used.Performance is horrible. My bounty hunter quick silver which cost about two to three times less than this performed better.This is a kids toy, a really expensive one.

This has been a blast. And performed in some pretty bad conditions. I bought it for recreational diving but have used it on the Sheriff's dive and rescue team when looking for evidence. Used it in mud, sand and muck. It has two controls which allow you to kind of tune for what type na d size of metal and how sensitive you want it to be. Initially, the plastic shaft just above the round detector head broke when I accidentally stepped on it in the case (but putting a piece of CPVC pipe over both ends repaired it fine). FYI, when used close to another detector, a fuzzy interference sound can be heard; which is the case for all detectors. Simply move away from the other detector's area and it'll quit. Great value.

I used this item on land and it seemed to work OK. I was able to locate objects 3-4 inches deep. When I took it into the water, I seeded a 1/2 dollar and it found it fine on the surface of the sand but once I pushed some sand over it, I could not find it again. I was in 2-3 feet of water and did not submerse the electronics. There was only about 1/2 in to1 in of sand over it.Amazon's return policy is great so far. I clicked a few buttons and printed a free return label. They say I should get a refund in two days after they receive it.

I bought this and the handle broke first time out with it as it's made of flimsy plastic. I needed it bad so a couple of friends screwed a hole in it and reattached the handle in a different way. That didn't last long and I've had to use duct tape to hold the handle on. Now, three months later and only about five times out, it stopped working altogether.

I read all the bad reviews but I got an amazing deal on one so I bought it anyway. Took some hints off of some of the reviews and used some 3M black weather sealant on possible water intrusion places. Worked like a champ!! She's waterproof and works well. Also fixed the loose shaft as stated in other reviews with well-placed electric tape. I use it in Lake Huron, so I can't speak for saltwater.

Very basic metal detector, cheaply made. Returned and saved for an additional month to get a quality made underwater metal detector with sensors that actually work.
