No Hitting! [Katz, Karen] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. No Hitting! Review: SO HELPFUL for teaching self control - My 20-month-old son's childcare provider suggested that I purchase this book to use at home. They have one at school that he really gravitated to. He's been having some trouble learning self control, so anytime he tries to hit a friend, his teacher hands him this book. He goes through the whole thing "I"m MAD!" on his own, uses a sign for every page (like squeezing the cat) and at the end, he's calm. He even handed it to his sister the other day when she needed to calm down. He actively seeks this book out to calm himself down now. THE BEST $5 I ever spent and I will purchase this as a GIFT to other parents. Review: Easy and educational - The stories are very simple to understand, great images and perfect for little kids minds.

Works, toddlers love it!
My toddler loves most Karen Katz books, but this really caught her attention. She is 2, and she was hitting a lot. We read this book, and she now recites it about 5x a day entirely. We have had it for almost a months, and we still read it daily. She has almost completely stop hitting us, and when she does I say “that’s not okay”. She repeats me and stops hitting. Love it!

Easy turn pages, and not too long a read
I like the flap book style of the pages turning up. I think it makes the book lighter and a toddler can see easily how to turn the flap. I do miss the old board book style though because the pages were a solid cardboard, and each flap was different. I can see how this new way saved $ and a child can easily turn the page upwards to read the suggestion to not hitting each time. The pictures are colorful and written content realistic. My child enjoys this book very much it's a good reinforcing learning tool to teach how a child can handle frustration vs hitting.

Book title is deceptive...
I really like this book and so does my 2 year-old (25 months) but it's NOT a book about hitting; prospective buyers should know that before they buy. This book is about "anger" in general. It highlights the typical toddler physical manifestations of anger and suggests alternative, acceptable behaviors to cope. The book has nice "key" words that my toddler loves to hear me emphasize, then she repeats them such as: "Bang bang" and "Scribble scribble". She really connects with the drawings and is pulled in by the flaps. However, I was expecting a book about "hitting" when I ordered "No Hitting" and this book did not deliver. This book has *one* page about hitting and the rest is about acting out physically in other ways. I bought "When I Feel Angry" by Cornelia Maude Spelman to cover the anger issue. I was looking for for a book completely about hitting and how it hurts people and is not okay. I bought "Hands Are Not For Hitting" by Agassi PhD and Marieka Heinlen but that book was far too long/wordy for a two year-old. Unfortunately there aren't many books that are concise, attractive to a toddler and get the point across on the subject of hitting. Just keep in mind this book is about "anger" if you buy it. I'm thinking of buying the board book version of "Hands Are for Hitting" as one reviewer "complained" it was too short and that's right up our alley with a 2 year-old.

Cute and effective
Very cute book! My son loves it. We were having issues keeping our hands to ourself and he took to this book immediately. He doesn’t have some of the other bad habits like sticking his tongue out but preventive measures never hurt anyone, right? It’s cute, relatable, and short enough to keep my 3 year olds attention while allowing him to progress the message appropriately. Definitely recommend.

No hitting
No hitting. That's bad. Helps reinforce that.

Me gusta este libro porque complementa a otro publicado por la misma autora "No bitting". Creo que los dos son buenos para enseñar normas tanto en casa como en clase.

I bought this for my 18 month old who has started to hit when upset. She sat and listened really intently while i read and now instead of hitting she throws her self to the floor or pats you like a dog hahaha. Thats a win in my book. Great book for toddlers.

I have two little boys age 3 and 5, and as you can imagine, they fight a lot. I bought this book to help remind them about the importance of keeping their hands and feet to themselves. It works a treat. They enjoy this book a lot. I also bought the 'No Biting' book. Good value. Fast delivery

All three of my daughters love this book. Each page shows a child who is mad and wants to do something nasty like hitting or screaming. You lift the flap and there is an alternative action for a child to perform. For example, (from the book) I'm mad, I want to hit my baby brother"'. (Opposite page) "That's not okay, but I can (lift the flap) hit some pots and pans, BANG, BANG, BANG. This pattern continues throughout the book. The pictures capture the childrens attention quite well and are colorful and cute. My daughters very quickly picked up the pattern and were soon reading the book from memory. The book is quite durable, even though it is a flap book, and has survived my girls for 5 years. Very pleased.
