Works with Malco 9 ga 1 7/16" staples
I was concerned that this would not work well with 9 gauge staples but these pliers sets them perfectly. These pliers seem well made but most importantly works well with the Malco 1 7/16" staples.

Well made pliers
The opening was a bit big so I bent the handles open, so the jaws closed tighter. Was very hard to bend, so strongly built I guess. Only used on 80 feet of fence( tension wire), but will have them now for other projects and repairs.

Sturdy, but handles need redesigned.
I like these pliers. I use them for chain link fence hog rings and for homemade 1-1/2" rings. The only issue I've found is the handles are to close together. This may be intentional to prevent over crimping, but I like to crimp tighter in some cases and the handles touch each-other before I get a satisfactory crimp level.I ended up having to bend the handles after heating the pliers to make the metal more pliable. Without that option though, somebody else would be very disappointed.

Only large rings
Only works on large rings does not crimp closed handles meet way too early to close rings properly. Built sturdy but doesn’t work on sized hog rings only large . I am going to keep them and try to modify them to work because they are sturdy

Can't use with 1/2" hog rings.
Bought the pliers to use with 1/4" bungee cord using 1/2" hog rings and the when fully closed, it doesn't crimp the hog ring at all. It doesn't close enough to use with 1/2" hog rings.
