A Guide to the Turuq of Hafs & the Variant Recitations: Advance level Tajweed

As a student of Classical Arabic, the Qur’an and Tafsir, I found this work profoundly beneficial. I’m currently studying the classical work, al-Shāttibiyyah, and found this work to complement it immensely.The author has done a brilliant job in presenting something very informative yet simple and easy to understand, a combination seldom found, covering an array of subject matter pertaining to this area of study, using plain, simply English and self-explanatory illustrative diagrams. When citing Classical Arabic sources and the like, easy to follow translations are provided and transliteration is used throughout the book to aid pronunciation for those who may require it.The book begins by introducing the reader to definitions, key concepts and the history of the Qur’an during the early Islamic period, after which the reader will be left well-equipped to answer modern-day queries held by the likes of orientalists and non-Muslims, which is reason enough alone to read this book.The rest of the book moves onto the substantive subject material, highlighting the numerous subtleties of the Riwayah of Hafs and giving many nuggets of information which at least I couldn't recall coming across before in my reading, for instance, in the Riwayah of Hafs, the Madd’ Munfasil can be elongated for the duration of 2,3,4 or even 5 harakah lengths.For intermediate and advance students, especially, this work is certainly a blessing and a great companion, for you will not find such a comprehensive yet succinct work of its kind.Overall this is a great book and I would recommended it to other students or anyone with an interest in the Holy Qur’an. I look forward to any subsequent works by the author, inshallah.

This is a must have addition to the collection of any scholars/student of knowledge’s books in the science of qirā‘āt— with detailed diagrams presented in a clear and easy manner. A really amazing and beneficial book Ma sha Allah. I love the way the author has explained everything in details. It makes the understanding of Qiraa-aat so much easier. Looking forward to many other books from this author

This is an awesome book for those wanting to expand from the 'default' Quranic text to venturing into advanced recitation theory and practice. It is a natural advancement from the author's previous books of tuhfa tul atfaal and muqaddimah jazriyya

Amazing book on the turuq of Hafs that has been compiled with great care and perfection. It’s a must read for all advance learners of tajweed and qiraat. Recommended very highly for all students of knowledge.

This is an excellent study book. The layout and design is very compatible and ‘reader-friendly.’ The font is very clear and nicely spaced out on each page making it easy for the student to process the information without making it overly confined.Brilliant usage of diagrams to simplify concepts and the practice (Tatbeeq) section at the end helps to consolidate all the information that we have learnt.I think it would be great if the next edition made use of some colour to highlight key points and terms.Overall, another great book by Zein Hud Publications to complement the previous books: 1. Tuhfat ul-Atfaal and The Forty Hadith: A Gift for the Children in the Rules of Qur'an Recitation 2. A Brief Commentary on Muqaddimah JazariyyahThese are the books that have enhanced my understanding of Qur'anic recitation and Tajweed. I believe they are the best books in the market for Tajweed as they are made very simple to understand. The book arrived promptly from amazon and it is a very clear and well-written book. Flicking through the book, I can see plenty of tables and charts giving a visual to the text. This is handy especially in a subject like this. The book seems to be content heavy although it doesn't feel very exhaustive. I look forward to the course starting on Monday.
